Thinking of doing going to Cadwell next month for an evening open pit lane session. Have seen in car videos of the track, it looks a bit thin. What are the grip levels like in the wet and dry?

It's a hell of a journey from Liverpool though, over 3 hours each way - is it worth it? (have previously done Nurburgring three times, Donnington twice and Silverstone so would be nice to add this to the list).

Cheers

Cadwell is one of the best circuits in the UK (if not THE best). However, it isn't very generous with run-off, but it is hugely rewarding to drive.

It's not called the 'mini-ring' for nothing smile

Is it "slippery when wet"?

3 hours !!! lucky you... took me 13 hours door to door a couple of wk ends back (from N Ireland)

was it worth it - absolutely !!

grip levels in dry are fine, you would just need to be careful in the wet given the lack of run off on the tighter sections..

best circuit i've been on by a country mile to be honest... extremely challenging and rewarding...

Cadwell is a superb circuit, it is tricky in the wet but I'd say more actual grip than Donny even if rather less run-off eek.

If you want a similar track but more local then do a day at Oulton, you won't find any evening events there though.........

Can be greasy under the trees in the run from the old hairpin, through barn, but not bad in general.

I was last there in December in the snow in a Caterham where I set PB laptimes!!!

Funny you should mention Donnington, I found I could go round there quicker in the wet than I could in the dry (tyres & brakes would overheat in the dry).

I have been to Oulton and didn't like it, was a bit too rough for my liking...

I was in a Focus RS at the time and it just felt like it was bouncing around a lot, couldn't help but wonder what it was doing to the suspension.

That has to be a prob with the car. Oulton is smooth enough.

If you like the Nurburgring and it's the full circuit at Cadwell you will have a great day out.

Yes and yes, the problem is once you've done the Nurburgring nothing else compares! (says the man who has only been to two other tracks rotate )

Cadwell Park is a great circuit, but as previously mentioned, once you've been around the Nurburgring, everything else seems tame.

Very true, I did the Nurburgring and then Spa on the way home and even that unbelieveably seemed dull.

Not to worry, i'll do Cadwell and then I am heading to the Ring again a couple of weeks later smile

My cousin has had to pull out of the trackday on friday at Cadwell. Its with Mazda on Track, i'm going in the stylus.

Link here:
http://www.mazdaontrack.co.uk/cadwell-p ... -107-p.asp

Mazda on Track are selling them for £165 or £150 for members. My cousin wants £100 for his slot. I also had a twin room booked at a nearby B&B if you need a room which would be £27 and you would be sharing with me. Dont worry, i dont snore.

Its the full track open pit lane and runs all day.

If anyone is interested give me a call on 07968 061 1567

Regards

Tony

Just be aware that, as said, there is a minimal amount of run-off. So if you fk up, you're fked. But you've done the Nurburgring before, so this should be OK smile

Grip seemed pretty poor when wet (but, TBF, it was sleet/snow) - a Lotus shot up the hill backwards after Mansfield corner when I was there.

But very, very rewarding - just like driving your favourite B road, with none of the caravans rolleyes
