Hoping to get back over to the ring later this year and wanted to "learn" the circuit a wee bit better before I go, so looking for any recommendations re best console game to play to learn it?

Gran Turismo has the most accurately modelled track so you can learn the directon of the corners, but don't expect to learn anything more than that.
As above, watching in-car videos will be more useful.

Gran Turismo 4 - excellent for learning where the track goes.

Yep literally the corner directions.

You'll get no sense of elevation, markers, slippery paint, slippery tarmac etc.

It still won't give you any idea of where to break, how hard or when to get on the gas.

The hotel I stay in has it all setup and you can finish laps on that and go straight to the circuit and lap that.

It's taken me 16 laps of the real thing and god knows how many on the PS2 to not be surprised by which corner is next! laugh

As others have said Gran Turismo 4 on PS2 is the best to learn on, if you learn sensibly but I am sure most people do this...i.e. don't apply exactly the same logic to speed etc.

I learnt the track on this and the first lap was great because of it, I obviously still was amazed by the elevation changes but I knew where I was going. We did a 3 day trip with 2 cars, I had learnt the track on the PS2 and my friend hadn't...and by the end of the trip he still didn't really know where he was going and was frustrated by that.

We got back and all my other friends had said they were driving next time jumped straight on the game and sure enough they knew where they were going on their first lap too.

It is definately worthwhile.
