Anyone going to the open pit lane evening at Cadwell Park on 23rd July?

My first trackday so pretty excited and scared. Reading all the tips - seems advisable not to push too hard and to really keep my wits about me for other faster cars. Anything else to remember?

Start off slow and build up speed.

Watch your mirrors.

Don't pull your handbrake on when in the pits between sessions.

Don't feel pressurised by other drivers to drive faster than you usually would.

The Hairpin after Hall Bends is harsher than it looks. (!)

Check your tyre pressure between sessions - you made to let some air out.

And have fun smile

As above, and again try to bring a tyre pressure gauge and speak to people on here etc about what pressures to use.

Enjoy it!

Just booking now, yellow elise track car. We,ve done Cadwell many times and have a 'reasonable' idea of the lines.. Feel free to pop over and see us for a chat or a few passenger laps . Or of course get some tuition from the profesionals at the track for proper advice is allways a good idea.
Get close to the pace car on the sighting laps and folow his line, take it steady and enjoy smile

Yep, booked in thumbup

I'll be taking it steady in a grey TT (just picked it up today so will be learning the car and the track - sorry). Got some tuition booked but am quite happy to be hunted and caught. We're also bringing a 911 and a Boxster for you guys to scalp - all novices but we'll keep out of the way.

Cheers for the advice, see you there!

hi fella cadwell is an excellent track.if youve never been before just remember that you hav to move over to the right to let faster cars pass you.
ill be there in my metro giving alot of people a good run for there money..
if you need any advice pop over for a chat its my local track and have been quite alot.hairpin after hall bends is slippery because of the trees.also the bends just after the club house are a little off camber and can catch you out

cheers marcus

If it is damp/wet tomorrow, be particularly careful around Mansfield corner - I saw a Lotus shoot up the hill backwards when I was there last time & the track was wet!

I am going to Cadwell next week for the first time - I have done a number of track days before with clubs but this is open pit lane and a new circuit and more powerful car.

I am going to get some instruction this time to try and get the most out of the day but can't decide how much to book (20 minute sessions).

Any suggestions?...please explain.

Thanks

I'd recommend (though i speak from a personal point of view) - beginning with 30mins - 60mins of familiarization or the track and car . I.e., go out by yourself and learn the general layout of the track. That way, when you get in the car with the instructor they wont be telling you which way to go, and the session can be more productive smile

20mins should be enough if you already know the layout of the track/where the apexes are etc.

What an excellent night.the rain held off right til the end and there was plenty of space on track due to a small attendance..
Cadwell is one of those tracks you must put on your to do list before they nail the lid closed on your coffin.....

Brilliant!

I struggled to put my hemet on at the end due to the great big smile on my face!

Great first trackday and everyone was really welcoming.

Loved the metro - what's under the bonnet?

Left Liverpool at 1pm, home now at 11:30pm...it's been a long day smile

I found my tuition session really good, too bad it was at the very end of the day.

I was there last night. Green caterham with black stripes. New car. Picked it up yesterday morning. It's a monster.

It was my first evening trackday and i was sceptical of how much track time i'd have, but it turned out to be just right. we left when the rain fell at about 7:45.

I found the track quite difficult to be honest, and was getting frustrated that I wasn't hooking up a good lap. Give me the nurburgring any day!!
