Track Day 'Health Checks' At Silverstone

Lotus Silverstone offer a pre-hoon pit stop for track day set-up and safety checks

Track day goers will be able to get a 'Track Health Check' on-site at Silverstone race circuit from late August.

The mechanical checkup is being offered by Lotus Silverstone, the franchised Lotus dealer set up at the Northants track in June, where for the sum of one crisp £50 note their team will give your car a lookover and make sure it is properly prepared for the imminent thrashing you are probably about to give it.

The launch of the new track health check is being marked with a complimentary track day for the first Lotus owners booking the new service. The Elises et al will be treated to a two-hour session at Silverstone's Southern circuit on 26 August, starting at 6pm.

All you have to do is make sure that your Lotus is booked in for its health check before 30th September 2009, though places are limited.

To book, head over to www.lotussilverstone.co.uk.

£50 for a 2 hour open pit lane at Silverstone and a health check! Are there any Lotus owners who aren't going to take this opportunity? Please shoot them if so.

apologies if I'm being really stupid here - are these checks for any car, or for loti only? It's not 100% clear and I can see evidence for both in the article!

As far as we can tell, the checks are for any car, but the promotion to get track time too is only for Lotus owners.

It took me a few minutes to ascertain that too! idea

Apologies for the confusion within the release. The evening track session is for Lotus Owners only but we would be happy to extend the health check to non-Lotus owners. There are limited spaces for performing the health check on the same day as the evening session but we do have some booked in already and a few spots in the morning or afternoon. There is also a circuit days track day running before hand through the day on the same circuit as well.
Regards,
Oliver
Lotus Silverstone.

What is the situation if your car passes the health check and then something fails on it during the trackday ?

What checks are likely to be carried out do you think?

That is exactly what I thought, Matt. In the present H&S/compensation culture we have to endure, I think it could be a major headache for the operator, unless that is, they insure for any problems that may arise!

The track evening will run as any normal track day and therefore you will need to insure your car for track day use. The Health Check is just a check and there is no pass or fail certificate. We will advise on any elements of you vehicle that need attention and it will then be the owners responsibility to rectify these problems. There will be an imdemnity form you will need to sign before going out stating that you say your car is safe to go out on circuit.

So completely pointless for the customer, and a potential litigation nightmare for the operator then. As I suspected.

Got mine booked.

If nothing else then you are getting 2 hours on track and an inspection all for £50, this seems like very good value to me
