Tourist Weekend at Nurburgring 25th and 26th July.
Discussion
Anyone else over there this weekend?
It was my first time over at the 'ring, and I loved every minute. I'd never be stupid enough to think that I had "learnt" the track after one weekend, however I did get to the stage where there were certain parts of the circuit that I had built the confidence to tackle with a reasonable level of commitment. I came away from the weekend more than happy to have been able to get that far.
There's another post asking about pictures from the weekend, however I'd like to reiterate that question - Which sites do people recommend looking on for pictures? Only one of the links from the previous post has any from the weekend, and sadly my car is missing - Obviously there is a limit to how fast (or slow?) the photographer was able to pan
I'm definitely planning to go again, however understand what people mean now with regards to insurance cover. I went with a "suck it and see" attitude and didn't arrange any specific cover more me, the car, 3rd party or recovery ..... I got away with it and drove home with nothing more than a grumbly wheel bearing and an off centre steering wheel. Others were not so lucky ....... Thankfully all of the incidents that we witnessed (the aftermath in the most part) did not involve any serious injuries, however there were many drivers that did not end the weekend with a car that was in a fit state to take them home - Sadly a lot of them were Brits too.
I'd go further than recommending a visit to anyone with a drop of petrol in their veins ..... IT IS ESSENTIAL THAT YOU GO!
Picture links, personal pictures, and stories eagerly anticipated.

I was there - dark blue 993.
Was a good weekend, pretty quiet on the circuit Friday and Saturday, Sunday was getting pretty busy by lunchtime and when the regular lunchtime closure arrived I headed for home.
Had a bit of a scare late on Saturday when the rain came down - a) it was flippin' slippery and b) there was a dog on the circuit just after the T13 LHer!
Regarding pictures, there was a recent thread on here that listed most of the TF photographer' sites.

I was there (first time) on Saturday and had a great
time. It was the last day of a european tour for me
and a mate who was in his Boxster. Defo the best day of the trip. It seems much steeper and in some places wider than I expected.
Have you been plotting a return trip since the second the ferry hit Dover too? time. It was the last day of a european tour for me
and a mate who was in his Boxster. Defo the best day of the trip. It seems much steeper and in some places wider than I expected.

I read up on the circuit, watched countless videos, played all the games and spoke to people that had been before.
Nothing! But nothing, really gives the place any justice until you go. I was overjoyed that by the end of the laps there were a couple sections where I was happy to monster some of the kerbs and take a couple blind crests with the throttle pinned to the boards. Those sections were the minority, but I was happy all the same.

I was there in my yellow 996 gt2 reg gt02,there was quite a few stoppages but overal had a good weekend. Called it a day early on sunday just after dinner when one of my front ceramic brake discs literally fell apart into pieces, expensive repair!
cheers
Black chequered roof?cheers
We were there from Thursdy until Sunday eve. Had a fab few days, but reckon the track etiquette and general standard of driving has declined. We had a biker with us, who reckoned a lot of the bikers did themselves no favours at all. (interesting to see an alternative point of view). But I guess these issues go with the territory, still the best place on earth to drive your car.

Hello, i was there that weekend too, from friday until tuesday. Only managed 11 laps though. Seemed like there were quite alot of accidents this weekend there, i did not get one clear lap in without seeing a car or bike crashed
I was in a blue 57 plate Mini diesel
Just want to try and find some pics of me on track now.

Thought the weather on the Sunday was superb and although it was busy and there was alot of waiting around I did seem to be lucky with traffic and get a few clear(ish)laps.
Pic is courtesy of Ross at www.nurburgring-photos.com . Thought I'd give him a plug seeing as he is at it all the time anyway!!!
