Hi guys,

I'm doing my second ever track day at Snetterton next week (first in my current car), and wondered if many others from here are going?

I noticed a couple of people have posted on the 'who's doing what trackday' thread, but I wasn't sure if everyone updated that.

Looks like 'Rusti Evo' will be there in an Ultima GTR. I'd quite like to have a look at that as I've never seen one 'in the metal'.

I've hired a garage for the day (in case it rains) and I'll be in a Silver Grey e46 M3.

Howdy Paul,

Yes still going in the GTR, as will GTWayne in the M3 and LuckyP in the MR2 racecar.

It will be great to meet up there, always good days with Goldtrack - can you arrange some decent weather?

Well, I know it's a week away, but the weather forecast is for brilliant sunshine. (Fingers crossed)

I guess your Ultima is normally the quickest car at most trackdays? (in the dry anyway, must be a handful in the wet!)

Hi Paul,

Yep, I put Rusti and Wayne up in the 'who's doing what' track day thread. I love Snett, nice and easy with plenty of time to think about what you are gonna do for the next corner.

Another MR2 is going with a fellow MR2 Championship Racer on-board. We'd like to take a close look at each other's lines so I hope that the marshalls will see it for what it is and not for what it may look like!! smile (Hey Melindi? smile)

Just check yer mirrors for Rusti on the back straight. You might hear him before you see him!!!

Rusti and I will be travelling up the night before so we will be nice and fresh on the day. My M3 is bust so I will be there in my spare track dog, Fido, a trusty 325i that I bought from ebay a few weeks ago for £420. I have used it at Goodwood already and it was surprisingly good yes
An old school buddy of mine may be there too in his recently track prepared 328i 'loon so it is shaping up to be a good day.
LuckyP is well up to take on any challengers ( don't be fooled that he is in an old MR2 so he won't be that quick, he is a racing driver now you know wink )

Oh right, sounds like it's going to be busy then.

How many places do they normally have available?

No racing Wayne!! You should know that! Anyway, if I pull in behind you on a straight, it's not coz I'm gonna try to overtake...it's coz I need all the drag I can get!!

Paul, it's a long track, plenty of room for us all. smile

Yeah, doesn't look too clever.
I've checked a few weather sites, and the report varies between constant light rain and sunny with showers.

Last time I went it was wet in the morning, and dry in the afternoon.
(Which did at least give my tyres a bit of an easier time)

The weather was indeed poor to begin with but started to clear before lunch and the after noon was dry although it did try awfully hard to rain throughout. LuckyP suffered an engine failure early on in the day and was on his way home on a recovery truck just after lunch but as he said, it was better that the motor failed now as opposed to at a race meet yes
Rusti was gaining pace in the afternoon as he was pushing on a little harder in the 'softly softly catch'e monkey' style that he seems to have adopted so well wink
My standard 325i was awful on the cheap Hankook Ventus tyres that I was using ( still better than the VERY Cups that I took with me ) and as the day wore on the car was going better and better until I found the limit of the dreaded Hankook's but all in all it was a very enjoyable and rewarding day.
I don't know if it was just me but did anyone else get the impression that we were at a Porsche 911 day or what? hehe

I don't know if it's a 'Snetterton thing' or trackdays in general at the mo but Snet' a couple of weeks ago had a rather large 911 contingent.

^^^ Made me wish that I had my M3 with me, it was beginning to get a little tedious watching the Pork trot past hehe

biggrin Well I was in my 320i coupe when I was there and my 'ultra low' 60 profile goodyears nearly fell off their rims following the GT3 family around.

Not all of them were being driven that quickly when I was there but a couple (including a racecar) were exceptionally quick.

LuckyP's misfortune was my good fortune as i got to get on track and enjoyed the afternoon.

Yes there were quite a few 911's also some very fast cars there. The small single seat Radical looking things went crazily fast and i'm sure they must have been frustrated being constantly held up by us mere mortals.

Roll on Donington tomorrow....

^^^ Just out of interest, did you pay Goldtrack for LuckyP's slot then? ( when I say 'slot', I mean his place on the track biggrin )

I thoroughly enjoyed myself yesterday. (Despite a couple of scary moments on the flooded track in the morning)

My car seemed to hold up reasonably well, and I wasn't the slowest car there which was a bonus.
Although I did have some issues with my engine emissions light coming on. Which I decided to completely ignore and go for it anyway. smile

Got to have a bit of chat with Bealo, and a look at his lovely CSL. (Which was miles quicker than my normal M3)
Said hello to LuckyP in the morning, but didn't get a chance to chat later on.

And yes, it did seem like the Porsches completely outnumbered everything else!
