We’ve just hot-footed it back from the Nurburgring still buzzing after legendary 'Ringmeister Dirk Schoysman treated us to a trio of hot laps around the North Loop in a new Jaguar XFR.
Yep, you heard that right! On Monday evening, team PH blagged a ride with the Dirk Schoysman. He’s a Nordschleife wheelman of the highest repute; the man who helped hone the ride and handling of the past four generations of Nissan Skyline/GT-R, and now a member of the Nurburgring team responsible for Jaguar’s durability programme, which is run out of the company’s dedicated Test Centre at the circuit itself.

Riding shotgun in the front of the XFR, I was treated to a mind-blowing display of driving talent from a man whose mastery of the 'Ring is undisputed, and who really knew how to get the best from the rear-drive Jag’s 503hp V8 around this amazing circuit. Dropping down into the foxhole – a particularly fast descent through the trees followed by a rapid ascent to a blind crest – at a speed approaching 140mph in a big four-door saloon car is an unbelievably violent assault on the senses that's absolutely unforgettable. It’s an experience likely to be etched even deeper into the memory of fellow PHer trackdemon, who was hanging on in the back seat and trying to take photographs. In order to commemorate our ride, I splurged next day’s lunch money on three fabulous Nurburgring posters, which Dirk very kindly signed for us at the Jaguar Test Centre. We’re keeping one each obviously, but the other is up for grabs by a lucky PHer. For your chance to win it, just email your name and address to
