I've just moved down to East Anglia after living in Edinburgh for the last 11 years. Up there I used to take advantage of the cheap "Speed Sunday" trackdays at Knockhill which were £50 for the whole day; considerably cheaper than their normal prestige trackdays. I'm just wondering if any of the (many) circuits around here do similarly cheap days? I don't mind that they attract idiots in stters as my car is worth less than it's tax disc anyway (Xsara VTS...no really, it's good on track...honest...it's like a 306 Gti6... laugh ).

All the track days are getting exensive in the UK - it's cheaper for me to drive from Liverpool to the 'Ring and do a day there than it is to do Silverstone or Donington for the day.

Focused Events has a day at Snetterton for £89 on Sunday 1st November and another on the 21st for £69 - http://www.focusedevents.com/car_index.asp

Try Santa Pod, they do 'Run What Ya Brung' days: www.rwyb.co.uk and do it every other Sunday almost.

£10 admission and £25 sign up fee.

I though the RWYB day was on the 1/4 mile strip - didn't know they'd made a circuit?

Hmmm... a good point, misread the post. Try RAF Marham Trackdays, they're generally cheap and the track uses both the main runway and the taxiways. Think the next one is early October and about £60 for a day.

Haven't done one for 2 years but you went out in sessions about 20 cars at a time. When I first started doing them in 2001 (a week after getting my licencebiggrin) it was only £40 and for that you normally got about 8 sessions. Last one I did though I was driving off the track and joining the back of the next group as there were only about 40 cars there so the amount of time you get varies greatly. Marham sounds like a good bet, there's a charity day coming up soon so I may go along for a few laps.

Tommy, there are some trackday organisers who ask silly amounts, but if you search around a bit, most are not too bad. Try Javelin, Motorsportvision, or Circuit days. It also depends what time of year, and also evening events offer good value...how much time do you really spend belting round a track on the average trackday?....are you showing signs of your Scottish blood??...not that Gordon Brown shows any sign of prudence, and he`s more Scottish than a bag pipe (lots of wind and a ghastly noise!).

laugh I'm not actually Scottish, just lived there for 11 years.

£50 for a days entertainment seemed good value but £150 seems a lot, especially when you factor in petrol, tyres and brake pads. It is possible to do trackdays on a budget with the right car and I'm a postgrad student at the moment surviving on 10 grand a year in funding!
