Trackday 18" or 19" wheels
Discussion
Trackdayed my merc E55 last month, great buzz, (albeit big baby novice at it) and need some more of it. Planning to go again next month. This car whilst fast on the straights, is not good cornering, at my level anyway, quite a physically big car to throw around. Whilst I am not looking to throw thousands at the car , which suspension alteration is, but already have a Brabus lowering modukle fitted. I am having the brakes tweaked, and am wondering to weather replacing the existing road 18" wheels with a 19" replacements, would help alleviate some of the cornering roll I get from this car. Or am I wasting my money? Anyone experienced enough with this to give me their advice, many thanks
Have you tried having the geometry set up for a more track-oriented setup?
Otherwise I'd start with anti-roll bars - you're pissing into the wind with rim size until you start to sort other things....you could easily make things worse.
Also, buy this book - read it and understand:

Most of the feedback Ive had about tracking cars is that you're better off with smaller rims rather than bigger, as you are looking for better acceleration on track rather than top speed (which you're unlikely to achieve on the relatively short straights). I might be completely wrong, but I'd agree with above - you need a stiffer suspension set up to try and get rid of some of the roll.
Then once youve got a better balanced car, think about what needs tinkering with next.
