1. car
2. driving license
3. towing eye
4. suitable clothing (covered arms and legs), to be fair I generally wear this rather than take it
5. cash for food and fuel

In addition to the above I also take:

a. socket set
b. allen key set
c. pump
d. torque wrench
e. soft socket for wheel nuts
f. screen cleaner and cloth
g. spare set of brake pads
h. collapsible box to keep all the above stuff in in the pit garage
i. helmet
j. gloves
k. boots
l. fleece
m. camera

If I had room I would also take a jack.

I just packed mine so memory should be fresh:
low entry jack
jerry can with fuel
tyre pressure gauge
tyre inflator
assorted spanners
assorted sockets
torque wrench
length of electrical wire
crimpers/strippers/terminals
enough oil for a full change + filter
oil catch pan
coolant
bottle of water
assorted cable ties
allen keys
assorted screwdrivers
hammer
gear oil
couple of funnels
stanley knife
scissors
assorted nuts/bolts/washers/screws
and a few spares

thats the benefit of trailering with a decent tow car..even with that I'm likely to go home because of something I've forgotten...

If you take it all, you can almost gaurentee that you won't need it.

If you leave anything at home, that will be what you need first!!!

Well I take:

Tyre pressure gauge
Drivers license
Helmet
Lunch

One thing I do intend to invest in is a cheap electric air pump to return the tyres to the correct pressure (once they have cooled) for the drive home.

Think it depends somewhat on what you drive wink

I keep a list in a notepad file on my phone so I can remember to pick it all up each time. I also have a 'trackbag' which I leave most of my kit in so I don't have to run around the house each time.

Here's what's on my list:

Directions to track
Booking details
Timings (ie sign on/lunch etc)
Driving licence
Tarpaulin to keep my pile of kit dry
Spare wheels (track tyres)
Jack
Wood blocks for to lift car and also to chock wheels
Waterproofs for changing tyres in the wet
Spare clothes
Tools bag inc torque wrench and rubber gloves
Wheel gun
Locking wheel nut keys
Spare oil
Exhaust bung
Footpump
Tyre pressure gauge
Tread depth gauge
2nd Rear view mirror
Camera
Video cam
Video cam mount
Overalls
Gloves?
Helmet
Helmet liner
Neck brace
Baseball cap (To cover up helmet hair!)
Harnesses
Tomtom
Nearest shell garage
Fuel cans and spout
Money
Lunch
Drink
Sun cream?

A long list, but it's my list.

typically, even after my huge list of stuff I broke something today which I couldn't fix - managed to break off my gear lever - interesting when flat out up the straight, pull for the next gear and the lever comes off in my hand - no way to change gear - fortunately was literally my last lap for the day (had already had over 100 laps) and was about to pull off - so simply trundled up to the back of my trailer, loaded the car, drove home with a big smile after a great track day biggrin

Well my 1-5 is what I reckon you actually need the rest is what I take, though I need to add a tyre pressure gauge to that list.

Depends what car your in and if you are any good at fixing things yourself.

With my Impreza I take...

Me
Helmet
Phone
Wallet
Car

Nothing else! Its also my daily drive so I tend not to drive absolutely 10/10ths the entire time and if anything falls off I would rather just recover the car to a workshop and get it fixed properly instead of lashing something together that could make any problems worse and leave me without a car.

I also just make sure I am well prepared before I go...fluids checked or changed, brake pad check, quick spanner check etc. I dont go if I think something is not right...I.E if your car has developed a noise or doesnt feel right dont take it on track!

yes

I suppose to be pedantic I'd add full (paper and photo card) driving license to that, tyre pressure gauge, a pump and some gloves, but I'm also in the minimalist camp. There's no harm in having a basic tool kit and a few cable ties I guess, but I don't understand people who bring the whole garage with them to take an ordinary road car round for a few laps!

Where do you guys get these from?

I thought I read on this thread somewhere that they are super cheap from motorbike type accessory shops and come in at a price that make them almost disposable having sweated your way through a track day!?

Cheers thumbup

Yup, I've got one from my local motorbike superstore. It's like a thin stretchy balaclava type thing. It's got one big "face hole" (rather than having eyes and mouth IRA style!). Think it was about £10. Compared with the price of a trackday I guess you could bin it, but I just wash mine every couple of days. Sorry I can't remember the brand at the moment.

Serious question - Why would you not buy a nomex one for say 15-20 quid and have the added 'security' of the fire protection?

Im only asking as Im currently kitting myself and a car out for track use.

The motorcycle items appear to be for added warmth - which I assume is one thing you could do without whilst pelting round the track wink

Serious answer - becasue I didn't consider it and the motorbike shop only had one type. Given the marginal additional cost it would seem sensible to get one that offers protection as well as comfort.
