Have done it twice. Last year was much better organised and much more track time. I think the organisers have gotten into their stride. At the price it's incredible value and all for charity. Bad points are it's sessioned, the mix of tarmac (high grip on the runway) and stone chips. No spectators unless pre-booked makes for a very sociable day chatting in the paddock.

The layout last year was about 3 miles with a real mix of super fast corners and some tighter stuff. Typical airfield stuff.

I know it would look naff but what about bubble wrap or similar on the front of the car to protect from stone chips? I have the scars from North Wales' roads.

Take a trip down to your local Sign Shop or sign Makers and get a roll or offcut of vinyl (deep frost 80 is popular so they should have some offcuts) and use this. Its a slightly inferior grade of the stuff they do propper stone protection with at a fraction of the cost! Dirt Cheap track day and gutted i cant make it, sounds like a hoot!

A lot of the details are/were handed over when you book. You give them the reg number of the car(s), names of the attendees and on the day a serious bloke with a gun matches you against the list. Take photo ID. I can't remember the start time but ISTR hanging about last year because I got there too early. The event is signposted as you enter the base.

Due to noise restrictions you won't be on track before 10 'o clock.
