Funny thing about the disappearing car and bike in the second one. wink

I know its not the right thing to do but the porsche backed off in the karussell, we came out of the corner side by side ( you can hear me back off for the porsche to go but he doesnt)

wow. well spotted. you have caught me red handed splicing two laps together. read the video info on youtube and you will see that is exactly as it is described- two laps spliced together.

For an instant, when they first seemed to have disappeared, I wondered what had happened, but then I noticed the brighter light.

In that case, the driver's missing apexes by several feet! wink

The camera is mounted low down and centrally in the nose cone of the car, you don’t see the car wheels hitting the apexes from that perspective. If the apex of the curbing were visible in shot, I would have two wheels on the grass.

I would of thought that was fairly straightforward but maybe you are just being a bit of an arse. wink

OMG, somebody not showing deference to Flemke!

Nice video but personally don't like the music overlay (you don't have a speaker in the spoiler I'm assuming), still at least the track is better than the usual cr@p Americans put over the top of youtube car clips...

I think a few top 15 places in a Manthey GT-R 911 in the 24h VLN race at the Ring qualifies Flemke to know where the apexes are scratchchin

Ah, okay. That had never occurred to me.
I had assumed that the camera lens was 5 feet in diameter.
Well, I had assumed either that, or that you were driving a Reliant Robin, which should have enabled you to get closer to the apexes.

No doubt I am very often, perhaps always, a bit or an arse or even more.
Nonetheless, after allowing for the camera offset, the driver of the car in the video missed at least 22 apexes, which is sort of quite a few.

Cheers.

It's amazing how many places you can make up when, out of 210 starters, 195 of them DNF. wobble

Though to be fair the bump drafting was a little out of place smile

Okay, so maybe I might have tapped a few of them, but they should have had better car control and dealt with it. Bunch of pansies, especially those "works" guys. What's so special about them? A lot of people work, but they don't put it in their job titles.

And during the night, it wasn't my fault that I kept getting blinded by other guys' tail-lights.

I can comfirm that you do indeed come across as an arse.

If, as one of buddies has suggested, you are some kind of race driver, I would have thought you would have better things to do than to count the missed apexes of a car enthusiast's lap on a tourist day.

The distance off some of the kerbs was pretty obvious the first time that I looked at the video, as was the splicing that we discussed (as well as the other splice at Schwalbenschwanz).
I was surprised that the driver had missed so many apexes so, in the course of commenting on the clip, I mentioned it, but I deliberately tried to direct my question away from the driving itself, and asked if maybe the car was causing it (nothing wrong with a car that under- or oversteers during its development phase; that's why they do testing even in Formula One). It might only have needed a bit of camber or toe change, or fresh tyres, or whatever. It was meant as an observation, not as a criticism.

which did not seem to me to be particularly friendly towards someone who had taken the trouble to look at the entirety of your little videos.
You're not obliged to be friendly; you're entitled to say whatever you like, as is everyone. I try to compose my comments to people here in a way that suits the post to which I am replying. Maybe I do a crap job at that, but that's what I aim to do.
I construed your reply of a flat "No" as suggesting, "Of course the car doesn't understeer. It's too well-sorted for that. What a silly question."
When you subsequently thought it would be clever to throw around childish epithets, it didn't help.

You seem to have, before now, formed your opinion of me. It's not a problem. Now I've formed my opinion of you.

Re the racing bit, maybe I'm retired.

Have a nice day and, the next time you're doing Touristenfahrten, I hope that you get within 5 feet of the apex at Eschbach. It's quicker that way.

It's not that Flemke has lots of 'buddies' on here, more that he (almost thumbup) always offers a far more balanced opinion backed up by solid reasoning than many who post on here, and also has the benefit of several years experience of the Ring, direct commercial involvement, industry contacts, and is no mean driver himself, having amongst other cars a highly developed Mac F1 which he pedals in a competant manner hehe

I think the comments were either tongue in cheek or were pointers. Most people have room to improve on the 'Ring. Posting a sub 9 min BTG video is not going to wake the Porsche motorsport guys at Weisach......

I would suggest that the tone of your posting throughout this thread has been of an antagonizing and slightly childish nature- dropping in subtle comments with which to try and make me rise to the bait.
Sorry that it hasn’t worked.
I have simply posted links to two of my youtube videos taken during the first outing of a kit car on a tourist day. They seem to have drawn the attention of a racer with a lot of time on his hands and a couple of his buddies with Porsche connections.
Strange.scratchchin

I have indeed formed an opinion of you based on this thread. If you have formed an opinion of me, then I hope it’s a good one.

I am pleased Flemke and yourself are close. That’s great.
I do indeed have a lot of room for improvement at the Nurburgring. For the record, I have not quoted a lap time or said the lap was great one at any point.
I did not post up the vids to wake anyone up at Porsche, but my “little” vid has got a few of you talking, the ones with a Porsche connection at least!

Yes, I have always thought that my views on, for example, the FIA were perfectly balanced.

Looks a quick car, but unless you are avoiding a crash, IMO there is no excuse for a right side overtake.

2nd one sounds much better without the music too. The revs hardly appear to drop when you change gear, does it make it had to know what gear you`re in ? in a car, the drop and change in engine noise is a lot more noticeable between gears, in this it is hard to tell from the video.

I've held my hands up to the overtake. I know its naughty.

It is difficult to know which gear you are in sometimes. The trip to the 'ring comfirmed the need for a good gear indicator- which is now up and running.
