Hi

Looking at doing one of two track days at the end of this month - one at Castle Combe, the other at Oulton Park.

Have driven at Oulton before and really liked it, but have no idea what Castle Combe is like.

Any recomendations on which of the two tracks is best?

I've driven Combe (although I rapidly became a spectator) and been a spectator at Oulton. I think Oulton will be best. Combe is good fun. But it's a bit like (right, right again, right again, chicane, right again).

Oulton is the faster more flowing track but Cadwell's great fun too, especially in something lightweight. What car are you taking?

I know a lad who often takes his jurgen alzen RSR to oulton, very close to the noise limit but tends to be the quickest thing out, unless there is a radical or aton out, sometimes quicker than an atom though.

Not driven around Oulton, but it's a much more varied and interesting track in layout/elevation, etc.

Castle Combe's not a bad track, but it's a little flat and open (a bit like a flatter Thruxton really).

Uwe Alzen?
im sure ive heard hmi say that name, i just remembered the jurgen alzen motorsport bit, aparently it started its life as a GT3 cup car, bespoke racing machine, and they modified it to thier version of a road going RSR, its only a 3.3l not 3.8l but its more powerful than an normal RSR with (i think) 350 bhp and 450 ft'lb of torque.

If you've already done Oulton then you should do Combe.

It's an awesome track and takes some real balls to drive it hard.

Not hard, even with a near straight through pipe my Beemer was only showing 88Db on their tester and I have seen (heard) some seriously loud cars pounding round.

at 105db it has to be one loud exhasut to fail the noise test at Oulton Park! seen some cars there that sound as if they wont get through but do!

Oulton Park i would say! best track in the country and if you get bored look around at the coutryside (not that you will get bored with Oulton Park)

Have driven both in various 911s, Oulton many more times than CC . If you cannot do both and you have not done CC before then I'd suggest you go for that and take a bit of tuition to help dial in to the circuit. Both circuits have got plenty to hit around the edges and at this time of year both are likely to be damp so take your car control skills along with you whichever you choose!
If you have a standard exhaust on the 993 then the 100db noise limit at CC wont be a problem.
Who are the organisers for the two days ?

Standard exhaust so noise limits are not normally an issue

PCGB is organising both events
