Cheapo Track day car.
Discussion
Im looking for a cheapo 2K ish track day car.. My initial thoughts are a bmw 325/328. (rwd), going to strip, put coilovers on and uprate the breaks.
A couple of questions, as (at the moment) I know nothing about these really.
much power difference? one more reliable than the other?
Im sure there was a thread about one of these a while ago, but I just cannot find it.
Cheers in advance..

Obviously I know about the mx5
I just don't want one (the wife insists it has a roof
) , after tracking the s2000 etc.. (and also have clio cup as the daily runner), but a couple of us want to buy one together, and not worry about needing it fixed for the next day etc etc..

what the diff in power between the 328/325 .. and we both can easily afford a chepo car.. so no arguments really. (i know we say that now).
And the wife.. well, I know, but that one of the conditions.
Headline power is about the same but power delivery makes the 328 a much faster car. Also, the 328 has a widely implemented modification to induction and inlet manifold that make it more powerful and much more enjoyable to use on trackAnd the wife.. well, I know, but that one of the conditions.

Standard car was restricted. You add a modified inlet manifold from a 325, big bore throttle body and shielded induction kit to gain around 25 bhp peak. More applicable though to a track car, the engine will rev out to the redline unlike the standard car which runs out of puff at around 5500rpm

Ahh ok.. the redline thing is good, makes it much more driveable then.Gassing Station | Track Days | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
