Bedford Autodrome for my 1st Trackday ?
Discussion
Lo all, have visited Pistonheads for ages but not been posting up to now.
I'm in to Classic front engined Posche and have a real hankering to get in to track days and maybe some 'beginners' form of motorsport but it seems a minefield. Im not too sure about abusing my 944 Turbo on a trackday
or about what really goes on / who goes to them etc. My only experience on a track was a full day at Silverstone Racing School when I was 'much' younger I.E about 18 years ago.
Bedford is quite local to me as I'm in Herts so I fancied something there , is it the norm or acceptable to pop along and watch say hello etc before actually taking part in a track day.
Regards Mas

yep quite usual, just turn up although at Bedford you do have to drive thru to the pit garages avoiding the MSV thought police
Best to try to meet up with some gus from tis or another forum as everybody gets a bit wrapped up in the event, and if you pick the right one you can get free passenger pass and rides

Don't see anything wrong with just booking yourself in and turning up.
Bedford Autodrome is often regarded as a good first time venue as there's little to hit and no significant graidents or cambers to upset the car; the instructors are also superb. The only thing I would say is it's almost completely featureless so take it gently while you're learning as one corner can look much like another.

was at Bedford on saturday with MSV, during the lunch break they allowed a small group on the circuit, £25 looked a good way to get a taster of a trackday, they also do half days
