I remember you Gavin smile . I shed a tyre that day and had to do the rest of the day on my road tyres frown. But I have a set of slicks back on the rims so with the weather looking good should be doing some good times. I am with another fella who races in the LMA and is bringing his e36 evo down thats pretty quick. Come over and see us if you get time. I am aiming at getting there for 7.15 so I can get a garage.

Just got back from Brands and had a wicked day. Weather was good and the track dry by 10ish.
The only down sides where the drivers who didnt want to get out of the way of the quicker cars (Nothing changes)and the E30 that rolled at paddock hill and landed on its roof. Seems the driver and passenger where OK but I dont know how after seeing the state of the car as I left.

Mind you looking at how flat the roof was it shows why its a good idea to have a roll cage fitted for track days.

Also the other thing that p*ssed me off was shedding another nearside slick tyre. Thats 2 in 2 visits to Brands.

Lol1 - Maybe it would help if race cars had a little patience with less experienced drivers in a less powerful/ well set up car.

Either that or race cars attend test days at £500 a pop and trackdays which are meant for joe public are kept to just that.

I didn't let it spoil my day but I can understand how people would feel
intimidated. All in all a great first trackday for me.

My first track day and the way I'm thinking at the moment, probably my last. I was in the Blue Z4M with the indicators constantly on, I felt like I was involved in a race that I wasn't invited to.

Novices and pro-drivers don't mix imo, I think I only did 30 miles the whole day. Not the best value for money and I enjoyed the passenger rides more.

Having said all this, I completely understand the frustration of someone who knows what they are doing being held up by people that don't.

Just be more selective of who you book with next time. Go to a sessioned day so you're among others with similar track experience. Also look at some of the car club events (BMW, TVR etc.) as they have much much much better driver behaviour. Just avoid the Mitsu Lancer club - I made the mistake of going on one of their events once, full of 4wd/ABS/uprated turbo/pile into corners/trailor it home/aggressive tailgating heroes rolleyes

It was a BMW car club day smile just a lot of people have race speced versions.

To the guy who had the z4m- sorry To here you didn't enjoy the day as much as you hoped but don't make it your last-maybe try a sessioned day where you are guarenteed to be with drivers of similar experience.

It was a BMW day, but it was run by Total BMW magazine...

Nearly all the cars on track were BMWs...The exceptions I can recall were a Mitsubishi Evo (road going and not very fast), A Peugeot 205 trackcar and a very badly driven Mazda MX3 trackcar...

Most trackdays will have folk who take their race-prepped car or have a dedicated, caged trackday car...

As others have suggested, try a sessioned trackday (such as the annual BMWCC day at Donnington) or a novice-only day to get yourself aquainted and up-to-speed...
Also longer tracks such as Castle Coombe, Donnington or Cadwell Park mean that the cars are spread out more and there is less of the moving out of the way or waiting to get past that happens at Brands Indy.

I remember your car on track and you far from the slowest or worse driver...I hope you do stick with it and enjoy your track outings..
Any "M" car is designed for the track and performance driving and it would be a shame if you didn't take it out again...

I was in the (fairly standard road-going Henna Red E30 M3, btw)
