Hi there,

Booked on at Oulton Park on Tuesday with Opentrack.
First time out at Oulton Park, and hopefully the Golf will be ok.
All being well should have the new suspension fitted tomorrow and a new set of Toyo's.

Anyone else going ?

Regards

Tim

Me biggrin

I will be helping with noise testing rather than on track, though!

Look out for the Red Corsa with PH sticker on back and Matt Sayle Photography all over it hehe

Will take some snaps and I will come say hi to as many of you as I can smile

Hi there,

Well what a flippin day !
Picked my new Toyos up at 9am this morning as arranged so far so good.
Then on to the office and wait for the new coilovers to arrive. Mechanic turns up at 12 midday to fit coilovers as arranged, but coilovers have not arrived.
Nip tyres over to tyre fitters across the road who fit the Toyos to the Golf rims.
12.30pm Ring supplier who tells me that coilovers have not been despatched yet and should be with me tomorrow (even though they sent me an e-mail on Friday saying they had been despatched and would be with me on Monday). Damn.
1pm Speak to mechanic who is busy changing old oil for some new super duper oil which should handle the heat better. Whilst he's at it he traces the small oil leak to a dodgy camshaft seal, mechanic orders parts and starts dismantling the car to fit new seal. As he's doing this he checks and refits all the belts as they have been a bit noisy.
1.30pm Ring round loads of local car spares places and manage to locate a set of 30mm lowering springs,as we really want the car to handle better for Oulton. Send business partner down to pick these up. He returns and mechanic starts to fit them.

Head off to the bank and run a few errands. Mechanic rings me at 4pm to tell me that he has a couple of problems. Firstly the new front springs are the wrong size at the top and keep popping out of the metal cups, secondly one of the rear brake calipers has been sticking on and has practically fried the pads, one seriously dead sets of EBC Greenstuff pads are removed.

At this moment we were seriously considering pulling out of the trackday as no one the mechanic knows locally has the parts and we would not even consider tracking the car with poor brakes.
We ring the guy we bought the springs off and he has a set of the smaller size rear springs on the shelf, result. Business partner dashes off to collect them.
I continue ringing round and manage to find someone who has a caliper in stock and joy of joy he has a set of EBC pads on the shelf as well. I dash off to fetch these.
Back to the office at 5.30pm, mechanic has by this time fitted the rear springs, new steering wheel and boss and cracks on with the caliper, pads and then the front springs.
7pm, car is back together loaded onto trailer and strapped down. Perhaps there is a god !

See you at Oulton tomorrow !

Regards

Tim
