Time to start the track day.. some advice needed.
Discussion
We are trying to stick to a 2K budget, already got a bmw 325 e36 (with 117K) for £500..
Now, i have done lots of tracks days in the s2000/Clio cup, just for reference.
This is what I think we need (are doing):
1) Strip out
2) Replace all bushes
3) New disks / pads (fronts - FERODO DS2500 pads)
4) Suspension, now this is the killer, do we spend 620 on GAZ GHT's or will others suffice, and will they sit too high with the reduced weight of the car. Or are there some better around 400 quid ones (or anyone got some for sale)
5) 2 /3 sets of cheapo 17" wheels.. one with roads, other with 888 or slicks (from a touring car for £100)
6) Bucket seats/Harnesses/Steering wheel, Plastic windows (bar the front)
Other stuff (maybe, and questions)
respray in some garish colours.
Braded brake lines
Now, on ebay (i know, i know) you can get headers for like £100 that give 25bhp [yes crap i know], but do they add anything, and also a stainless steel exhaust system too? (decat) i.e will these just give it better breathing and allow it to rev freely, if not add any power.
I know a few people that i am going to try and pull in a few favours to get some stuff cheapo.. But we shall see
Cheers

What age 325i? E30? E36?
Anyway here is how to do an E30 for £1500 quid.
http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a... Although all the pictures have gone due to stupid Photobucket.
As for the coilovers I used Supersport Coilovers that cost under £400 and they are superb. The damping and spring rates are absolutely spot on perfect for the car and clearly developed from experience, you can't adjust the damoing but they are so well set-up there is absolutely no need. FYI I got them through Demon Tweeks.
These:

As for the other bits just keep trawling ebay, there are always plenty of bucket seats and wheels on there at discount prices.
If it's an E36 then search out Sniff Diesels Ring Shed thread in Readers Cars, similar build but with an E36

This was my next question actually.
I cannot find a concrete prices for the 888's.
What do you run on yours.
and will 15" with what size sidewall be ok? or will it look odd.
Also you run the old touring car tyres on yours right? what size (width) do they need to be to fix? 8/9?
(will the arches need rolling out)?
We have 15" on ours at the moment, but the tyre is huge.. I wanted more width really.. What are the wheels (dimensions) you run on yours at the movement, and what price where the tyres?
Cheers
Also would these fit (we would spray them) or will they need spacers/arches rolled?

8.5 or 9 wide rims are ideal for the WTCC Yoko slicks, I've got them stretched onto 7.5" rims but they don't fit as square as they should. Going to try Clio cup Michelin slicks next time as they're a bit narrower.
5 and 7 series rims have a slightly different offset, can't remember which way though sorry, for the same money as those wheels in the link you could get a set of BBS or M3 rims. I run mine with 20mm spacers as they seem to help the handling, had to flare the arches to lower the suspension then though.
Ebay seems the cheapest place for R888's, would 195/50R15 fit OK? they seem a popular size.
I've listed a breakdown of all the costs of my build in the blog on my profile, the slicks were £20 each.
