Would Fiat Coupe 20V Turbo make a good track day car, I'm looking to replacement my Nissan Primera 2.0eGT which is OK but needs more power/speed on the straights for overtaking. I tried my Saab 9000 2.3 turbo but to much of a handful in the corners and on its first time out at Bedford Autodrome blew its gearbox which I've since been told is the Saabs weak spot. So would a Fiat Coupe be a good choice, its cheap with lots of power.

Have you fitted a decent suspension kit to the SAAB. I have a friend with one & it has transformed the car no end. Although it is still a big car.

The performance of the Fiat is truly awesome. Many a TVR has been surprised by a coupe heading off into the distance, including myself. I would think it a good choice if your after a "production" track car.

The Saab is lowered and has Koni springs and shocks, poly bushed suspension, ecu chipped all done by Abbott Racing. Eagle F1 tyres, it goes well but is hard to get power down and because of weight 1900kgs doesn't like cornering, whereas Nissan which has been lowered etc and only weighs 1170kgs goes well on straight and in corners. But on track days I need the power of the Saab to get past people on the straights. Hence Thinking Fiat Coupe 220bhp 1300kgs.

Really?! Even my BMW E34 540i touring only weighs 1750 kgs, and that's with a 4 litre cast iron V8 and auto box.

I have not owned or driven the coupe turbo but I have heard they can be difficult to work on and can get expensive if they go wrong.

If it were me after a trackcar with 220bhp and 1300kgs, I would go for an e36 328 and strip it out.

I know lots of people say go for a beemer but I just cant see where you can go wrong with one.

From what i've read on the fiat coupe forum, standard coupe's don't like going round corners, and like eating tyres and bushes at the front cos they're so nose heavy, but, you will have the best looking car on track.

I'd not want to track a Fiat Coupe, too nose heavy. My friend replaced his S2000 he had tracked with a Fiat Coupe and he said it wouldn't be worth it with the Fiat, the car just isn't that sort of car. I had a drive the other day and I'd agree.
