what do you take with you to a track day?
Discussion
well its going to be my first proper trackday on monday at bedford. (anyone else going?)
ive been looking at what i need to take, and have a list that consists of:
spare brake pads
brake fluid
coolant
oil
small trolley jack
foot pump
a few random tools/small socket set
and the main bits like:
helmet
both parts of driving licence
indemnity forms ETC
now have i gone a bit overboard here? or missed anything obvious?
and i assume there is somewhere this can be stored/put while on track?
do bedford have petrol on site? or is there a station near?
and do bedford have food/drink on site?
i will be needing lots of coffee as ive got to leave around 4AM, and won't get home from work till 11:30 PM

Pikeyboy nailed it.
Tyre pressures are absoloutely critical.
Set tyre pressures by setting them to be correct when you come in (hot) - that way other than a lairy first lap, you'll have a better handling car for the rest of the day.
Also, remember driver maintainance - track day food / drink is silly, and you'll go through several litres of water.

tyre pressure gauge is on my list, and will check the pressures throughout the day, as there is a very slow puncture in my front right tyre.
should i keep to the standard pressure of 32 front and 37 rear, or should i adjust them slightly?
wheel brace would be a good idea, as i don't have one in the boot.
my tyres should be fine, and will keep an eye on them during the day.

Wheel nut wrench.. always check your nuts are tight (
)before you start your day.
When I did track days, I liked torque wrench, with alloys. Pressures? I liked to experiment with same pressures front and rear, maybe thats just me? I guess in a FWD I would pump up the rears to match the fronts (hot, as mentioned) then gradually let them down during the day, until i got the balance I wanted. Sounds like one of your tyres has this feature built in?

long sleeve shirt (plus spare if you tend to sweat) plus some suitable footwear.
These place are also very cold and wet so something to keep you warm and to keep the rain off if you do not have the luxury of a garage.
I also use to take a platic sheet incase i needed to have to get under car, so much nicer than laying on cold (and in some cases wet) floor.
Plenty of water and snack/energy food to keep you going.

A big bootful;
20 litre jerry can,
trolley jack,
torque wrench,
socket set,
spanners,
screwdrivers,
brake fluid,
box of spare nuts and bolts,
tyre pressure gauge,
cable ties,
rope,
duct tape,
car cover,
tonneau,
quiet airbox,
clamp,
chain,
torch,
kitchen roll,
rubber gloves,
spare engine oil,
helmet,
race boots,
Probably more bits too...better to have to much than not enough but saying that, at trackdays there are always lots of people with tools and lots of people wth know-how should you need it.
