Just had a quote from Bridge Tyres, (cheaper then a couple of others I tried).

Toyo R888's

215/45 x 17 Fronts

255/40 x 17 Rears

£753.36 delivered............................weeping

Are there any other makes recommended?

888's really have gone up in the last year. I paid £60 odd each last year for some 185/60 13's, just paid £81... weeping

could also look at kumho v70 or hankook r-s2 - both should be significantly cheaper....

I doubt the week pound is helping,

I noticed the price of the Yokohama's I used on my last car going up significantly over the last 12 months.

Three main raw materials go into a tyre. Rubber, Oil and Steel. Here's the answer...

i think you will find Toyo this year have reduced the number of resellers they have and have therefore controlled the price through the back door.

this will result in obviously higher margins but much lower sales

I had noticed this, I will be shoping around.

Just had the offer of a set of slicks from a pal who campaigned a bee em, will check sizes and if OK will give them a go rotate.

Toyo have cut back to 8 dealers in the UK now, I think - which means less competition!!!!!!

Do you have a dry sump? If not I'd stay away from slicks, or it'll make the tyres look like a bargain...

I get your point, I was losing oil pressure before with Triple 8's!!!

That's why I run with grill off, oil cooler, baffled sump and Royal Purple oil!

Second time I've heard that, cheeky move from Toyo, and all that's likely to happen is people discover the R888 isn't the only cut slick on the market, and move to the likes of the V70a.

I don't think it affects the road tyres as much as you can still buy those through wholesalers.
