From a quick search, it appears that most TD organisers and/or circuits have a minimum allowed age for passengers of either 14 or 16 years old. Are there any that would allow a 12-year-old?

My son is tall for his age, so can be safely strapped in, and is keen to come along for a ride if I can find a suitable day.

Any suggestions gratefully received... otherwise he'll just have to wait...

TIA.

My son was knocked back for being only 14, so would be keen to know of any that would let him ride shotgun too.

you could try goodwood on their own days.

I believe that their policy used to be 16 or a certain height. Try giving them a call.

Happy to be updated on this though as it was a couple of years ago when I asked the question.

The only trackday accepting children in my experience was the Anglesey RAF day at the airbase there (i.e. not the racetrack venue).

However they had to fit safely in the front seat, but my 13 year old son was as tall as me so no problems there.

Everywhere else has been 16 or above, which is a shame.

My son is about 5' 10", so almost as tall as me.

I have taken both my daughters aged 17 and 14 to Brands. The 14 year old is quite short for her age but was not a problem at Brands.

There is a vid floating around of an Integra Type R coming off at Knockhill and ending up well buried in the tyre wall. The passenger was young and quite small and appeared to submarine under the seatbelt. The kid was not hurt but be honest with yourself about how well strapped in your passenger is and adjust your pace. It's easy to make it feel quicker than it is by being a bit snappy with the throttle and steering.

I've been a passenger on trackdays for quite a few years now (17 now) And I've been fine, it's only been at knockhill.

I would say if you can get him in, do it. but get a seatbelt lock thing (can't remember the name) and make sure he is very secure.

We can get him out on GoldTrack days if it's pre-arranged.

Melindi - how tall would they need to be? Would you turn away an adult for being under 5' ?

My son is always pestering me to come along to trackdays - I just tell him he needs to be 18 wink

At a bike track day at RAF Wittering they let me take my 5 year old son round on the back of my ZX10R. He has all the correct gear so after they checked him out it was fine. We were in the inters as well... :-)
