I haven't been to any trackdays in my Nissan 200SX
I have Nur Spec exhaust fitted and a de-cat pipe ( like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sVFN02QlJww) and I'm worried that it will be too loud for any of the normal circuits.

Is there anyone in London area (West preferably)with an accurate noise tester that would be happy to test it for me?
I don't wanna book a trackday, take time off work , drive hundreds of miles just to be told at the place that it's 2dB too loud.

Would a VOSA test station be able to check it for you?

I have cheap one from Maplin and got 98db on it, at Oulton Park they got 99db so I assume it was close enough?

Your results may vary and all that, but it might be a different option for you

I just bought one off ebay. DO you guys know do all the tracks have the same measuring method? What is it normally - 2/3 of the revs at 45cm from the exhaust?

MSV circuits: 3/4 max revs at 1 metre and a 45 degree angle from the exhaust

Most others, as above but 2/3 max revs OR I have seen it as a fixed 4,500 rpm.

Silverstone & Spa: driveby only - YAY!

Its the drive-bys that get you: especially in a turbocharged car!

Remember to select the correct weighting too. Most noise meters have two: cheapies may have one, so youll already have had to choose there...

You want dbA. dbC is noise measured relative to the carrier & is used for signal to noise measurements. Engines are all noise & no signal smile
