Went to the last trackday there on the 27th March.

Track tarmac is a little bumpy in a couple places but not much of it over the whole track and I would say its a better over-all surface than RAF Odiham, for example.

When I was there, there was a burger van for food and a cuppa. The toilets where a basic thunder-box/site toilet so better than a bucket.

I found Optimax about 5 (traffic free) miles down the road towards Bath in a village/hamlet called Pennsylvania on the A46

Overall I would do this track again as it was good fun, well organised, well policed, friendly and is an interesting track to learn.

For pub grub try the Fox and Hounds on the High Street in Colerne or if it's a particularly nice day out you might try the White Hart at Ford (about 3 miles east of the airfield) - the food is not as good but they do have a lovely beer garden with a stream running through it etc.

If you want to go posh then the Brasserie at Lucknam Park Hotel is nice and is adjacent to the south-east of the airfield. Well, the start of the driveway is anyway....

Enjoy smile

You won't be able to see much from the perimeter but if you ask nicely at the gate if you can get access as a spectator, the organisers may not object, particularly if you can quote one of the participants (on this thread perhaps?) as a friend...

Access is via Crash Gate 4 here.

Colerne is a good airfield venue, have used it several times.

Plenty of space and very grippy tarmac, even in the wet.

A circuit that suits the more powerful cars, nice fast bends that induce a little "four wheel" drifting!

You will enjoy it, I won't, as I broke mine at Abingdon on Friday bangheadbangheadbanghead

I'll be there with MrsJimothy on our first ever trackday. We're hiring a lotus/tuition etc, form Bath Performance Cars. Really looking forward to it. MrsJimothy knows nothing about it - it'll be a nice surprise for her as she's been wanting to do this for ages.

See you there- I am taking my old Saxo Vts down there, not the fastest but good fun- at the other end of the scale, Tim is over from the Isle Of Wight with his Ariel Atom 300bhp thing.

So if you see a green saxo with a crappy black bonnet or Ariel Atom has a bit of 'orange' on it, then say hello or at least wave as you overtake the saxo!

Looks like good weather.

Food wise: try Waggon and Horses in Batheaston- its near the big roundabout which goes into Bath (at that end of Batheaston anyway.

Fuel on A4 between Batheaston and Box is usually cheapest and after 1 fill up they give you a 2 p discount, which does make it cheapest!

Spectators/ photo people, i sometimes see people quite close to the track on the North East corner- some must be stood on Duncombe lane- the others may be coming through redwood way- see this link, right in the middle of the sat. image if it works. Spotted people there when being a passenger.

Thankyou google streetview- for the photographers, this might be equally useless as the pit lane but take a look as an option:

Good stuff, seems to be a good few PH there then. As always, the lighter cars will be the quickest, so give me (in the lardy evo) a wave thumbup
