Had a phone call from someone at Focused events today telling me that the trackday has been cancelled - anybody else been told this?

Any idea why?

I suffered a similar thing a couple of weeks back, they cancelled Goodwood three days before the event. Fortunatly I rebooked direct with Goodwood who took over the day, and had a great day. This sought of thing is not going to enlighten them to a potential customer, its just very under mining of confidence in booking with them.

Not good mate, but it COULD be the circuits fault (silverstone could have other commitments and pulled out of the trackday)

Ive seen few dates come and go on the calendar. :-(

Hope they dont cancel the oulton day on may 18th,as im doing it with a few mates.

Did they have the decency to explain why? People plan a long way ahead for trackdays and this kind of late cancellation when the track is not apparently under going maintenance is not really acceptable. I'm awaiting my call with baited breath...

Wonder if they bailed because they were scared they couldn't fill it. If so really poor show. Especially as I was talking to guys today and likely to fill another 5 slots for them...

I've never known Silverstone do that so late in the season.

Ah I must be a less important customer, just got a mail and no call. Has wound me up as they have offered alternative days or a 'credit' on my account. Er no, I think I'll have the cash thanks...

Ok get this... They've swapped it to a bike day.

What a way to win customers.

I'm pretty gutted about this to be honest. I've been looking forward to this for weeks. I also had a B&B booked for the night before, so I've also lost £20 deposit for that.

I too will be having the cash instead of an alternative date. (I would have transferred to the 20th May, but I've got Brands Indy booked on the 18th, so thats a bit close.

Seeing as I was geared up for a trackday on 26th April, I've booked Bedford with Circuit Days instead. (Also on 26th April)
I was intending to do Bedford sometime this year anyway, so its not the end of the world.

Ask for the B&B deposit back? Focused terms state they charge customers 15% fee for any changes to booking more than 10 days before event and refuse any changes within 10 days.

lol I'm really going off them. Friend just spoke to them and Peter would not confirm why the day was cancelled. I knew it was due to making a bike day and this is on their website on the bike page:

Silverstone Arena GP Double Deal 26th April or 10th May only £99..
If you have not seen it, then you have probably heard about it. If you haven't ridden on it then you need to! It's that simple. It's new, fantastic and we would probably call it the best circuit today in the UK. The brand new Silverstone Arena GP Circuit. Specifically designed for MOTOGP and already seen as being that good that F1 immediately said... we want to use it as well! To celebrate the new circuit we are doing one of our famous double deals... Book either the 26th of April or the 10th of May and you can do them both for just £99 each !! Here at FE it's important for us to make sure that you,the rider, enjoy this fantastic new ARENA GP Circuit as soon as possible.

Do they think their customers are idiots?

Dan

Whilst I whole heartedly agree with your comments, you've just alerted me to a great day out on the bike! Just booked.

It does seem bad form to just swap their days around on an ad-hoc basis, given, as you've mentioned, that several people will have potentially made additional arrangements re accomodation, etc..

I've got a car trackday booked with FE later this month - hope they don't do something similar with that date.

To the OP, DanH, etc. - sorry to hear about the Silverstone date.

Really annoyed about this, but will transfer to the 20th May so not too bad. Trying to book an Oulton or Bedford track day around the end of April now.

Might be best to leave it till within 14 days of event so there's less chance for it to be changed to a different use! Especially arranging time off or accommodation.

I did a Focused Events track day at Oulton Park last february and even though snow had brought half the country to a standstill they did everything they could to ensure it was on. When I got there it was an extremely well organised and fun day on the track! As annoying as it is to those who have booked, Focused Events offer good trackdays at a low price, they wouldn't be able to offer such good deals if they ran half full track days at a loss. If they can make money on a bike day that weekend and not a car day then there isnt much else they can do.

On the other hand... it is unfair to switch so close to the event!

I have nothing to do with them btw tongue out just a satisfied customer who as of yet hasn't been let down by them!
