Nurburgring - quick question for the regulars..
Discussion
How is that some car's don't turn into the paddock after passing the Gantry on the final straight during Public Sessions?
I had thought that all cars needed to come back in to have their tickets swiped if they wanted to do another lap but have seen some footage where cars continue on (perhaps this is footage from closed trackdays?).
Can you really just continue on the back straight if you've paid for multiple laps?
If yes, what stops you doing a few 'freebie' laps?

On busy days, they set up a mobile ticket machine on the main straight. I had thought that all cars needed to come back in to have their tickets swiped if they wanted to do another lap but have seen some footage where cars continue on (perhaps this is footage from closed trackdays?).

Cheers
There is a ticket machine on the main straight, which you have to stop and swipe the ticket.
On busy days there is usually a queue here too.
I am also aware of an accident occuring where a car that was at the end of the queue was crashed into from behind, but unclear why the accident occured.
I seem to recall it may have been a bike that went into the back of a stationary car in the queue, but not 100% sure.
Car was a mess.

I remember that crash it was a rather stupid thing to have happened driver of the car changed from the left and wanted to join the que on the righthand side to do another lap.I seem to recall it may have been a bike that went into the back of a stationary car in the queue, but not 100% sure.

Bloke on the bike thought it would be fun to be doing circa 130mph between the two lanes of cars qued up, it was not pretty

I remember coming around the corner at Galgenkopf at max chat once only to encounter the end of the queue to get back into the car park tailed back right into this corner.
That was an eye-opener.
Wow, I have seen it to the gantry after an accident but not that far back. Were there no yellow lights showing? Hopefully, well you would imagine it was off the racing line LOL.That was an eye-opener.
As others have said, regardless of whether you have laps left on your card or a year pass, anyone can pay again on the main straight. I have never done 2 laps back to back when driving though, I like spacing them out.

Barriers are for anyone - the Ring card can be used at any of the barriers. The problem is that (I think) the swiper is only on the LH side which can be a pain. It's often as quick to come back through the main barriers anyway.

Left hand only, however there was a friendly chap posted on the barrier spotting English plates and doing the barrier for me when I was there last summer.

However the security checks this year can be a real pain. Got checked three times on Easter friday. Each time one of the chaps from the office had to bring out a key card to open the gate, even though they had already checked that my ring card corresponded to the ID on the transponder .. stopped being funny second time round.
