First ever track day at Lakeside Raceway in MX5
Discussion
In Australia, the trackday phenomenon hasn't really taken off as much as in Europe, (probably because of stupid nanny state attitude we live under) and also cars are quite a bit more expensive, anyway, had my first ever trackday today in my 89 MX5 and it was brilliant!
Lakeside Raceway near Brisbane, Queensland was actually a Tasman Trophy and F1 track in the 60s and had the like of Jack Brabham, Jackie Stewart, Derek Bell etc race there so it has quite a bit of history and is a very high average speed track with very limited run off which makes it challenging and exciting.
I wasn't expecting much from my times, just didn't want to embarass myself, but soon found a good rythym and after a best lap of 1:24 after the first session, by the 3rd session made a best of 1:16, which I was very pleased with indeed. Even passed a recent Polo GTi and an early model Integra Type R (although it was driven by an older lady who I'm not sure knew anything about VTEC).
A few pics below

Note the arm out the window (probably celebrating that I didn't crash)
