I have AA breakdown cover for the UK at present and am off to Le Mans end of the month with LOT for a TD in my Elise S2.

I have just called them to extend my breakdown cover to get there and back. When asked if I would be doing motorsport I dutifully replied yes.

I was then told that they do not cover if doing m'sport unless on Nurburgring.

Does this sound right to you all? The rep sounded a bit uncertain I have to say.

Thank you.

Track days are not motorsport - I'd give them another call and say no to that question.

Though AA Euro cover is horrifically expensive, may be worth looking at other options like ADAC.

Thanks Dan!

I did think about another call back wink

Will follow your comment re the other company. I only need 3 days cover, but if I do nothing the engine will probably fall out or something horrific.

AA quote me £55.00 with parts and labour cover when going online.

Might just do this and be done with it.

try ADAC plus (equivalent to the German AA, but a FAR larger, more professional organisation), who offer recovery off the ring, plus euro wide cover (operated by the AA in the UK) for EUR 78/year....

In the UK the AA do cover any kind of non-competitive track driving - it's specifically mentioned in their regs. As far as I recall the RAC don't give this cover.

As I only need a 3 day one off cover I have added this to my existing AA policy.

Let's hope I won't need it anyway.

Not far off four times the price if I went for 356 day cover, so will just buy this cover as and when I need it, but don't forsee other overseas trips in the next year.
