Why aren't single seaters allowed on track days?
Discussion
Is an odd one, esp with the mega spec sports racers that can run nowdays, when I've been out on regular track days sharing space with racers such as Radical SR8s, & V de V racers like Ligiers, Normas, Junos etc, not to memtion the Gt3 cup cars, 430 challenge cars or Vipers etc etc it does seem daft you can't run an old Formula ford or something thats a long long way off the pace of those.
Surely it's nothing to do with the pace - it's to do with the open wheels? If a road car drover over the wheel (which when spinning would be quite easy) it would be very dangerous - not least the difference in mass, though that's true for caterhams etc. also.
Remember when Ricardo Petrase (sp?) drove over Mansell's tyre as he came into the pits?
