Tyre pressure - auto valve caps

Was chatting to a guy at Caterham yesterday, he mentioned that you can get valve caps that automatically let pressure out of tyres as they warm up. They're banned in racing apparently, but obviously suitable for track days. When I did a search all I could find was these things:

Going to be £45 plus shipping, then you have to start drilling holes in your wheels. Hmmm, think I will stick with the old fashioned way.

Given it's just a spring and disc - would you not find it pissed air out over every bump and kerb?
