Very difficult to find any times at Goodwood to gauge how you are doing in your chariot against other such cars. I had a really cool bit of kit on-board yesterday from OBV www.onboardvision.co.uk a racelogic video VBox and it gives you hours of fun of comparing lap information and watching it at the same time.

Morning - 964 C2 (toyo R888) 1.33.8

Afternoon - GT3 (corsas) 1.27.70

Anyone got any comparisons?

I'll try an trim the footage back cos it's really cool to see what your arms and legs are doing when you are trying to tell them to do something else!!

Cheers
Pete

You do realise that timing at track days will see you sent home. No appeal.

Track days aren't practice days.

Live timing will. Videoing it and watching it afterwards won't.

Of course, however that's not how I read the OP.

I suspect that the advent of affordable video equipment, data logging and laptops means that more and more actually happens in a discrete way at track days, rather than in the study at home after a hards days wheel twiddling. I can't help wondering though if there is a direct relationship between those that find themselves in the gravel/barrier etc and those who try for those last seconds or tenths..

I should make it very clear that my comments are in no way directed at the op. If you are someone who is focussed on lap times as the aim of the day, and you have the equipment in car and garage to look at them, would not the temptation be too great to sneak a peek?

I tend to agree with you. You do see a lot of these driving instructor types looking at 'data' with their billies over lunch. With Dario, I just got an SD card at the end of the day and a disc of how to use the data. So no breaking of rules for me!!

Can we move back to my original question? biggrin

Hi Pete, just been having a look at my video and my best for the day was a 1:32.5. I was trying out a recently aquired Race Technology Video4 system to go with the DL1, which is very similar to the Video Vbox - v. cool but I haven't figured it all out yet.

in their circuit guide Total 911 reckon low 1:20s for a GT3 and below 1:40 for a 'lesser' 911.

Based on video times only, in my K series Elise I seem to be around 1:41.

Not a very relevant comparison car wise but my best is a 1:33 dead during a two lap sprint. Car is 1380 mini (140bhp) on slicks, datalogger shows max speed of 114 on both run down to no-name and the vast majority of Lavant so would be interesting if I had another gear/better aerodynamics.
