I'm looking for some advice from people with track experience please!

I'm about to start attending some track days, and already booked onto a couple. It occurs to me now that I'm probably picking the WRONG tracks for my cars strengths. I'm in an E60 M5 so it's strengths are not tight twisty corners and low end power. I'm thinking longer tracks with longer faster straights would suit me far better than a smaller tighter track like castle coombe for example. I'm guessing somewhere like sentterton would suit me better?

Any advice please on what would be the more suitable tracks for my car would be greatly apreciated!

Yeah Snetterton would be a good start, very long straights, fast bends. Also Bedford Autodrome might offer a bit of variety without being cramped.

Mark,

+1 for both Snetterton and Silverstone. Great tracks and they will give you a chance to "stretch" the legs of the V10.

Cheers

Croft is good for a bit of power, bar the sunny in/out and the hair pin.

Castle Combe is not a slow circuit, it's just not a great place to fall off as the run offs are limited, to say the least. Thruxton is also pretty quick, but limited numbers of public track days.

Problem is faster straights= more your brakes will suffer.

Goodwood is epic in a quick car, dont crash there tho it will hurt more than Coombe, Bedford GT is novice suitable & fast cars love the big straights a real brake killer.

Best track I've been to for fast stuff & where a mere 300bhp felt like a milk float float- Monza, long drive to get there tho smile

ive seen too many M5 and M6 with massive brake fade or even fires on track.

Bedford and Snetterton will be very heavy on your brakes, i personally would try Silverstone Arena/Bridge or even South or Spa would be just as good.

As a novice it might be worth trying an airfield day.

Colerne is a quick track with long straights, not too far to go.

Look up Motor Sport Events, good guys and they run a tight ship!
