Dogcam bullet cam, billet ring

Got a bullet cam set up from Dogcam. The bullet cam has a 1/4" thread at the back of the camera to mount it, but I've also bought an alloy billet ring to help stabilise and reduce vibration etc.

The photo obviously has the billet ring mounted in the middle, but was wondering if anyone had experience of mounting the billet ring as close to the lense as possible?

I mount mine to the front but wrap the bullet cam with a little gaffer tape to stop vibration.

Not had any problems

Not quite sure I understand - do you mean the tape is between the ring and the cam?

I've done some testing with this, it makes a big difference to have the billet ring right at the front, as close to the lense as possible.

ETA (O/T): and why did you sell the GT-R?

A few reasons really;

1) It wasn't a good long distance cruiser (road noise, petrol stops, smoothness in traffic) so on longer journeys I'd take the oil burner. (And then not benefit from the GTR fun on the few miles of roads either side where it would make a difference.)

2) The main journey I was using it on was going into work when I wasn't cycling - it's about 3-4 miles trip, all 40/30 limits with lots of traffic. Just don't get the chance to use the performance.

3) When I took the oil burner (for when I needed to tow something etc) then my wife and daughter would have to take GTR, and it scared my wife. Not easy to get the child seat in the back either.

4) And the biggest reason.... the Caterham. It's quicker, more exciting, doesn't attract the wrong kind of attention, and no roof enhances the experience. Put it this way, if you were going out for a blat and had the choice of a GTR and R500, which would you choose? R500 every time for me...

So I sold the GTR and got a new Mini, which is much more suited for an around town/second car.
