Does the car need tax/Mot/Insurance?
Discussion
im sure its been asked countless times before however after a quick google i cant find the answers im looking for.
basically im looking to sellup my pride and joys, so i can run a cheap car as a daily and build a track car, the only thing stopping me is insurance as the only reason i would be doing this is to stop the 2k a year quotes i get on my current daily and mental fuel running costs.
so.. at track days, drifting days, rally days out etc, does the car you use need to be taxed/insured/moted (i have intentions of trailering it everywhere and keeping it garaged)
any info on this would be great
Thanks
Chris

I would check you house insurance to see if it will cover your car for fire and theft. If not a zero road mileage policy is the way to go to protect it. The last thing you want is to build a great car and have it stolen from your garage.

we rely on the theory that a car like that won't run for longer than about 20 minutes without some serious spannering anyway.
in all honesty, we're just trying to legislate the MOT failure sheds off track days. if something is prepped properly i don't have a problem with it not having an MOT. plenty of our clients trailering 205 GTi's or similar around - but they've spent half their life getting them set up properly for track days - so a world apart from some chancer picking up a scrapped Vauxhall Chavalier, innit.

That's exactly what I thought Jonny, but thought I'd ask for the benefit of others.
