Keevil Airfield

Went once last year, they now run it the other way round.
The surface itself is quite smooth as in not too bumpy but the tarmac is quite similar to a large piece of rough sandpaper- so yes, wearing on tyres, hope that makes sense.
See you down there, I will be in my usual cheap saxo and Tim is taking his slightly faster Atom 300.

Did it 5years ago, good fun, nice high speed sections. Organisers gave good advice on driving techniques and noticing certain corners where I could go better on to improve corner speed. They also did a guide lap beforehand for everyone to learn the layout. As said though, hard wearing on tyres.

£109 which I thought was excellent value
Paid a similar amount for a day with them at Colerne in June. It looks good value until you realise that briefing isn't till 10, then it's sessioned till 11. Maybe it's venue specific with regard to start times, but it certainly hits the £ per hour of tracktime.Briefings always start at 9.30 but are long, and i dont think you get out much before 10.30am on any of the Motorsport events days.
In the briefings' defence, people are pretty well behaved on the airfield days- I sometimes watch days at Castle Combe (non MSE) and went to a briefing (which was brief)where a friend was driving, the difference on track was noticable but that may have just been by chance? You have to also bear in mind that when they ask if its peoples first time at that venue, lots of hands shoot up. I would rather these expensive Porsche and Evos wouldnt hit my far more important £5 Saxo, so I am happy (or was it to protect them?)
I think the only bad things at these days are the burger van queueing. We all pay to go on the days and we all have the same lunch hour, so its a shame to have to see the operators of the track day get served immediately with priority going to the marshalls, especially as the days let you have the mindset of going quickly during the rest of the day! :-> Aha, I hear you say, have lunch in your own time, but of course thats track time. Surely it cant improve the relationship between the TDO and the drivers. I suppose this will only matter if they get less busy, but then there would be less of a queue! On the less busy days they encourage you to use the burger van so it doesnt leave earliy. Maybe this is a ploy so they dont lose the masterly queue jumping they do.
So, if a burger van queue is the only issue then these track days are pretty good!

Keevil is a typical airfield venue, quite fast but interesting enough.
I have done about 4-5 days there over the last few years and enjoyed all of them.
MSE do run a tight ship, in fact out of all the T/D's I have done, their's are the tightest run and they do not suffer fools gladly.
Maybe it's because they attract a lot of beginners but they will be on the case of anyone we doesn't tow the line, which is a + imho.
Their days are always safe, well organised and they are a cheery bunch to boot.
As to burgers, I don't bother at lunch times, instead taking the time to search out another £60.00 worth of super unleaded!
Enough of brown nosing, I have to get the car ready for Coombe on Monday

Just thought I'd up-date this for anyone else looking at doing a day at Keevil with Motorsport Events in the future.
Was the first airfield event Ive done and thouroughly enjoyed it. The track was interesting enough and quite fast with plenty of run off (altho I did'nt see anyone venture onto the grass) and my crowd all had a great time and to a man would happily go back there. The only downside (if you could call it one) is that because its an airfield there is nothing there so if the weather turns nasty you've nowhere to go and shelter, but there's a burger van on sight so no one went hungry or thirsty and when the weather did turn we just sat in the cars/vans
Will put a few pics up as and when there loaded on the site.

I went to this event and have to say i was expecting a rough surface with concrete patches here an there but was suprised to see all tarmac and quite smooth. My friend took his track prepped scooby and we did quite a few laps.We really enjoyed the day and everbody there had a good time.Yes there was a Q at the burger van during the break and only one porta loo but that did,nt matter as we had such a good time. The marshalls were fair in letting people enjoy a bit of (safe) sideways action from the rear wheel drive mob which made it a fun day as well. The cossy escorts from the turbosport boys were awesome as useual.
