First track-day tomorrow...is there anywhere to get a drink and sandwhich at the circuit?

Silverstone alwasy seems to be the windiest, wettest, bleakest, place in the UK (like some sort of crap-weather magnet) so want to make sure we take supplies if need be!

Right, so bring your own for Cordon Bleu!

Hope you have better weather than we did on Monday.

The track was very slippery when wet especially on the new tarmac'd sections.

Looks like we'll have a wet early morning, then drying and dry afternoon. Cross fingers!!!

What will you guys be driving? I'll be in a blue Caterham.

See you there Ponty. Will be in a 993 Turbo, unless weather as crap as today in which case the Elise will be on duty as usual. What will you be running?

Austin Healey 3000 pedalled round by my father, brother and I - all first time track-day punters..although my father has quite a long racing history in his T70 Spyder.

As you come onto the infield over the bridge the catering is on your right in the welcome centre bit.

See you there - I'll be either signing you in or briefing you - say hello!

Hope the weather is better for you than it was tonight. Mega wet and greasy and I could not get any grip through the corners. Got hold of an instructor to show me some wet lines but still very twitchy. Summer, what summer?

There was some sort of cafe thing open behind the pits at silverstone - is this not available when doing the south circuit?

I had a brilliant day there today (black Boxster S).

It was a bit damp and greasy in the morning but dried out very nicely and everyone seemed to be giving it full beans by 11am or so.

The 20 minute instruction was very useful (never been on Silverstone circuit before), showing me the correct braking and turn in points.

Of course after that I was able to push the car harder and now have to replace all 4 tyres. (they didn't have much life left before though, so might as well go out having fun!)

I did have a "burger" from the van next to the South building, but it was a sorry excuse for food. Pre cooked burger, even pre-melted cheese - how soddin lazy is that? It also came with unidentified crunchy bits, and that was after the vendor had picked "bits" off the burger.

I'll never use them again.

What a fantastic day! smile

For the first time on a trackday it was better than we had anticiapted and all three of us had an absolute blast. Well run, relaxed, fun, etc.. very chuffed indeed.

Just need another set of tyres, some good weather and we'll be back!

p.s. rookie error, never actually go for the burger....the sausage in a bap, however, was far superior although lunch for three people was just shy of a million pounds.

Agree, burgers were the worst I've ever eaten. Shame, as the rest of the venue is great, and I was surprised how small the queues were given that they said there were about 60 cars booked for the day.

My rears just about survived - obviously wasn't trying hard enough!

I'm not sure the burgers were the worst thing about the day, judging by the 3 hours cleaning mud off my car this afternoon the state of the access roads was! I know they're doing a spot of building there at the moment but expecting paying punters to drive through 3 inches of muddy water to get to the "paddock" is asking a bit much.mad

On a lighter note I made one discovery on the day, the green stuff I thought was painted tarmac on the outside of the corners is actually astroturf and it's sphincter tighteningly slippery if you run wide on to it!
