Castle Combe - Saturday 11th September - who went?
Discussion
I was there! First time on track, took my Fabia vRS out. We were meant to be in the 13:30 session, although we didn't start until 1400. It was a huge adrenaline rush. I wanted to be towards the back of the pack so that I'd have soe room. However by the time we found our way through the pits I was (somehow) the third car out. After spending the first couple of laps letting the quicker boys past, I found some clear track where I could start to find any sort of rhythm. As soon as I felt I was getting into it, the chequered flags were out and it was time to come back to the pits.
Now the adrenaline has worn off I feel knackered. I'm looking for a more track friendly car over the winter, for sure.

I was there in my E30 touring, only did one session (11:30).

The driving standards are always shocking on these days you have to be prepaired for no-one to lift for you and attempt to over/undertake on corners. The briefing is a joke. I treat them as testing and go mainly for the car show. Not as many crashes as usual though.

I did a couple of sessions in my green 328i.
I got two morning sessions, which are usually much quieter. Very slippery in the first one, which was fun/scary but slow. The driving is usually bad, much worse then 'normal' track days in my experience. I must say it seemed better. I have no complaints from the sessions I did.
Overall a good day. The car did 4 sessions, didn't break down and no one crashed it so that's a good track day in my book! Brakes now need looking at but that's expected.

Be sure to post which track days you book up for so we can avoid them.@Evangelion

..you have to be prepaired for no-one to lift for you and for other people to attempt to over/undertake on corners.
By the way photos of the event at Castle Combe can be viewed here:

Plus there will be a short You Tube video of some of the action to follow, it was an amazing event.
The video is fab! But not finished! So you'll have to wait.

OK full video was taking too long to edit so we have done a teaser, its only 1.34m but shows some
of the fab drifting action which took place on the day! How much fun were they having?
Full video edit will be up next week

Hmmm. Definitely not my 'thing'.
The last couple of track days I did at Llandow, they made it clear that anyone behaving like that would be thrown out and asked to come back for a drift day.
I can see their point, as you don't want people falling off the track whilst everyone else is trying to bang in quick laps.

Wow! Cool video and pictures RPM - thanks for those.
Those videos remind me how it turned from being a catastrofically (sp?) wet day into quite a nice sunny one, thankfully.
Slagathore - Agreed, that 7 series looked hilarious - fortuntley they kept well over as everyone passed, hate slower cars hold up proceedings.
Overall that was the most I've ever enjoyed Combe. It's gone from being a track I wasn't so sure of (Quarry, attitudes and their lack of fire service..etc) to one that I'll look forward to more days at.

They have drifting demostrations during the day (as if you read the thread and watch the video, you might think this happened during the normal track time). There was a limited amount of drifting during the track time. It makes viewing the day lots of fun, especially at Quarry where in the afternoon one of the drift cars stepped onto the grass and covered the closest spectators with clods of earth.
The track sessions are only in the control of the drivers, so the apparent rules avry wildly. Combe is a fast track with barriers close to the track- add to that a wide variety of experience and its fun to watch, but you might not want to be out there driving!
Having lapped the circuit on foot I felt a bit hungry and while heading past avon rise a Nissan Pulsar shot past, weaving as it slowed into quarry. Next lap, it was out of shape again- just time to buy a sausage sandwich and turn round to watch the next lap... oh dear- off to visit the barrier. I suppose its one way to learn! I am not sure footed enough for Castle Combe and so I would have to play it really safe (possibly defeating the object)- with a bit more budget it would be a real thrill but I cant afford to damage a car at the moment!

Maybe offroading is intentional- same car somewhere else on the track!
