Going to do ARDS test sometime over the next month and had a question.
I've watched the DVD/ video and read the flag bits of the book. Form filled, doctor check done.
What is the format of the driving test? As I understand it, you are taken out in a car, get a few orientation laps and are then tested. Does the examiner tell one "I'm testing you from this point forwards" in so many words or is it just a collective assessment of what one does from the point one swaps seats with the examiner?

I carry out ARDS tests at Teesside Autodrome at Middlesbrough, & I drive the customer round for 5 laps, familiarising them with the track, explaining technique, braking points, turning points etc. We then change over with the customer driving under instruction from myself, and that continues until I feel that they are at a level that they can complete two laps unaided. I then ask if they are happy to drive two laps safely, at reasonable speed, and without losing control of the car, or going off the circuit in any way. Provided they are happy, I carry out my assessment on those two laps! The number of laps under instruction will vary from one person to another, depending on previous experience, ability & confident manner.I've watched the DVD/ video and read the flag bits of the book. Some venues do have a set time on track, and don't make a great allowance for previous experience, assuming that everyone has spent a considerable time track driving.
