Insurance pointers please...
Discussion
Probably been done to death but with the search function being down could not find anything.
I have my normal everyday car fully comprehensively insured with my 9 years NCB. I am looking at a cheap track car <£1000. I need the car to be road legal and insured to drive too and from my local track.
So looking for third party, fire and theft on limited miles without my NCB. Any suggestions for companies to try?
Do people generally drive there budget track cars without insurance on track or is it mandatory?
Any other insurance related pointers welcomed.

tisn't mandatory - we drive our £800 beemer without track insurance - if we bin it, we'll pay for it. If someone else bins it and writes off our car in the process, we'll sigh, and still pay for it. track cover is only 1st party.
in our case, it was cheaper to buy a trailer than to buy road insurance to get it to and from track - if youve got a car that can tow its definitely the better option.

It is definitely a better option because you can trailer it away if you have a mechanical. However I don't have a tow car and I dont't have the entitlement on my license.in our case, it was cheaper to buy a trailer than to buy road insurance to get it to and from track - if youve got a car that can tow its definitely the better option.
