WET trackday racing tyre's.....
Discussion
now then....
im planning on a few trackdays in November/December and going of the last few years experience i want to take a punt on wet weather race tyres this time around. I normally ran A048 (soft) which were "o.k" but i struggled getting heat in to them.
They were a number of cars running full race wets and it suprised me how fast they could drive i even got a lap in slower car than mine and the traction was at a high level. i know setup, driver skill counts but speeds were at a different level!
I dont know on what brands to go for.....but for reference the car is a Honda Integra type R weight around 1050kg.
or......should i take a punt on some raod tyres for track i.e good year eagles?
Many thanks for your help.

Obviously you can get new but part worns keep the cost down if you can find them; 15s are tricky to find though as they aren't used on many of the race series cars (at least not the ones that run racing tyres).
I've got a set of Dunlops for my 106 which work very well, an amazing amount of grip even in severe conditions.

Don't some of the lower grouped rally cars run 15"? They'll have a nice selection of tarmac wets.I've got a set of Dunlops for my 106 which work very well, an amazing amount of grip even in severe conditions.
as said, you cannot compare road legal stuff with proper race wets, like night and day.
in 15" you have some choice, talk to the people that supply race teams about which one you need, there's a lot more to it than just XYZ size, you need one that matches the car.
Dunlop have a reasonable range, talk to John Pearson at HP tyres, they supply the Honda's in Britcar so will know what the score is.

Scuffers is 100% correct. Wet race tyres are significantly better than any other tyre in the wet. I also have to agree that Dunlop are generally the best wets readily available and they last for ages so long as you ONLY use them when its proper wet, not damp and drying (they will run to hot very quickly). Avon also produce a decent durable wet although not sure its available in 15".

Simon what is best for the S1 Elise, thinking of trailering or keeping my car near The Ring next year to do Spa/Ring more regular and need a wet weather tyre. TIA
you do realise that wets are not E marked and in no way road legal don't you?that aside, they do have 15/16 wets, only downside is that they are really for tin-tops so are quite hard (as wets go), that said, they are still better than anything non-wet.
ones I had were 185/580R15 and 210/605R16 in 404 compound, but if you can get them in a softer compound.
Have a look in motorsport parts on here sure I have seen some in there
