Just wondering if anyone has been in November and what it was like? Busy? Generaly raining etc. Planning a trip for the middle of the month, but if the weather is usualy to bad then I wouldn't bother. I went last year in May and had a great time, although it was to busy due to being a weekend at the start of the summer. The thinking this time is to go Monday-Wednesday with the hope it will be quieter mid week, and also that the time of year will be quieter as well.

Also is anyone else planning a trip around that time?

Its pot luck really.

We went early November a few years ago and it was frozen solid - so no tracktime all weekend.

This also applied to the trackday that a UK track company had booked for the Monday. Luckily they did Spa on the Sunday so was not a totally wasted journey.

Things to bear in mind :

1. If you go during the week it is normally only open in the evening for a couple of hours. If there is a crash, and there often is in the wet, it eats up a lot of time.

2. The region is a forest, and traps moisture very effectively, and the elevation means you are often sitting inside a cloud. So it is a very wet region.

3. The ring is much more slippery in the wet than a normal uk road. If there was a race meet on the weekend, the apexes will be be like ice from the rubber that has been laid down. Some serious adjustment of driving style is needed and the wet lines are different to the dry lines.

However : If it rains most people stay off it, so you get clear runs. The low grip also means you can powerslide round large sections of the ring which are normally too high speed for such fun. The bikers also tend to stay off it which is good as they are one of the bigger hazards.

I've been there in the past and had a whole days cancelled due to fog in May and August. Typically, any weather can happen at any time, often with little warning.

The opening times for November are very appealing, with both the NS and GP circuit open most days, but if you're thinking of going over at that time of year then you really need to take a decision at the last minute based on the prevailing weather. I'll be keeping a weather eye on the first couple of weeks of November at least.

Thanks for the advice, more or less what I expected. We're planning around the 15th or so. We're at the NEC for the classic car show on the 13th and 14th. Then travel down to Dover and catch a late ferry. If the weather is to bad on the forecasts then we may just head off around europe and see where we end up, South of France and back has been suggested! Winter weather, but still be better than Home!

i'd tke winter tyres, if you are involved in a smash without em then you'll bear liability in most cases

i'm out next weekend, and for last vln on 30th october,
