I have used BaT 3 or 4 times at Castle Combe - each time I have hired a Caterham Superlight going halves with a friend. Not sure on current prices but I think it was around £600 all in (£300 each) which in my mind is cracking value. Included fuel, insurance, instruction and they guys I dealt with were laid back, knowledgeable and helpful.

I only stopped using them when I purchased my own Caterham track day toy!

I know someone who does this - apparently one of the most cost-effective ways to do trackdays. I think the prices are nearer to £400pp now though.

Some odd pricing there

50% more than a Caterham Roadsport for a E36 M3?

Think of the wear and tear you can do in a heavy, circa 300bhp BMW...

tyres, brakes, bushes etc etc... not to mention risk of damage if you have an off as you will be going faster with more momentum.

now think of the wear and tear in a underpowered lightweight Caterham...

Price for renting a Superlight from BookaTrack.com is £525 including VAT, fuel, tyres, instruction and insurance (subject to £1500 excess). Additional drivers are £100. Add the track day fee to that for an all-inclusive price. Prices drop slightly over the winter (november to february) so a full day with 2 drivers can be had for ~£650 in the winter or ~£850 in the summer (all inc).

In an effort to prevent this being pulled for advertising - Track-Club also offer exceptional value if you don't fancy a caterham (they have exige, elise, clio, JP1 etc etc).

Caterhams are indeed light on consumables, I question how anyone could run a BMW or similar for under £500/day all inc.

Yep, done a few days with them and it's always been a good experience (although I've only ever driven the Loti on the fleet). Never put a deposit down but would imagine there would have been an excess if you have an incident, but that will be the same with any company.

Not used Bookatrack for hire but have done a few trackdays with them and wouldn't have any hesitation about using them if you were looking for a Caterham.

Whilst £700-1000 for the hire of a car for the day may appear expensive, if you sit down and tot up what it would cost to buy your own car, get it the track and maintain it, I'd consider both to have reasonable hire charges.

There's also Javelin Trackdays. A day's hire of an MX5 for instance is only £380 and they're a cracking trackday drive. Although I may be a little biased smile

We allow anyone with a full road licence. Under 21's are subjected to a higher insurance excess though (£3000 instead of £1500) and mandatory tuition until such time as the instructor signs them off.

I hired a JP1 from Track Club about 18 months ago. There was no deposit AFAICR, but there was a £5000 insurance excess.

Our excess varies from £1500 to a maximum of £4500. There is an option to halve any excess via additional insurance.

New for next season will be an updated 2-eleven race car, Audi RS4 and Elise R race car.
