Hi,

Not sure if this is the best forum to post in?

Anyway, I am heading to a stag weekend in March next year and one of the activities being organised is stock-car racing. This does sound like a lot of fun but I am little bit concerned about my back. I had a car crash a couple of years ago and suffered quite a bad back which has never fully gone away, however it certainly does not normally stop me enjoying things like mountain biking, sailing and windsurfing but it does at times flair up and make life a bit more of a hassle. I certainly don't want to make it any worse if I can easily avoid it.

The question I am asking is whether I am likely to face the sort of forces that could upset my back again with shunts, bumps and general impacts etc at this kind of stock car racing organised for staggers?

Cheers

I have done some stock car racing and the forces involved were much less than I thought. If you can lead an active life (as it seems you do), I would get involved without another thought and enjoy it.

You could try asking the place you are doing it. Most of the English places are minimal contact but I have done it in Hungary (stag do) and although much more contact was allowed (encouraged), it was much less physically demanding and tiring than go-karting.

Good luck.
