What's the verdict? Currently use 888s for dry and T1R for wet, does this tyre kill two birds with one stone?

guy had em on his E36 when I was at Spa. It was a very hot day and by the end of the afternoon, they were shredded. My 888`s had worn as usual but his R1R`s had overhated. Obviously that could be all down to driving style.

The Federal RSR`s 595`s seem to get good reviews as an `allrounder`

I've heard similar reports of their poor performance in the heat, even on lightweight Lotuses.

I've been informed that R1R's are of similar performance & quality as Yokohama Parada's and I can safely say that on track my R888's are vastly superior to my Parada's

Does anyone have any experience with the Yokohama Advan Neova AD08 instead? Demon tweeks have them at the same price as the R1R in my size; was planning on trying the R1R's as an upgrade to the T1R's, but having second thoughts after the comments in here since I'll be tracking the car sometime next year.

We used R1R's and RSR 595's as a control tyre this year. I'm with the 595's
They are 99.9% as good as a toyo 888 in the dry and much better in the wet with an added bonus that they will last longer.

What size are you running??

I'm running 15"/50/195 which works out about £80 a corner for R1R's or AD08's, and £130 for R888; with a £200 difference and far quicker wear rate you can see why I'm looking at other options!

I have AD08s, but haven't had a chance to use them on track yet, so can't comment properly on their performance. You might also consider Hankook R-S2s if you're after something that's good on road and track, and wears well. I ran them on the Elise for a full trackday season and was very impressed. I got about 10000 miles and a dozen trackdays out of them before they needed replacing.

I'm sure you can get 888s in that size from Camskill for ~£100 a corner. Maybe even slightly less.

The Federal 595 RSR are just £75 each and a superb tyre as has been said.

They are cheap for sure but 888's they are not.

The RS-R is superb value and fair very well against the 888 so it is a no brainer really with the silly price for 888's. Feedback from customers is very good.

If you want something better that 888 and a little cheaper then the Silverstone RR is what you want, but not recommended for very wet roads really even though they are E marked.
