Just bought my new track toy, its a 96 imprezza sti, problem is i cant make up my mind weather to srip out the interior or not to save weight, anyone done this to a subaru and how much weight am i likely to save. Already taken the aircon out but the interior is spotless ! Any thoughts would be welcome.
Having had a few track day cars would not go that far with stripping one again, unless its never ever going back on the road and you are never going to sell it on later.
very tricky to sell again if stripped
keep the carpets makes it much more useable especially when its cold wet damp less steaming up
keep the heater (i've had a few racing cars where the heater was removed - this is only a good idea in the summer)
keep the radio for the boring non track moments
the front seats are usually the heaviest thing, then the glass.
you can rip everything out it will make it a bit lighter but if its just track days I would spend more on tyres and brakes suspension that is where the improvement will come from.

One thing or the other. If driving it on the road is more enjoyable than the track, keep it comfortable. If driving it on the track is it's raison-d'etre, then make it as good as you can at that. Although I agree that getting rid of the heater is daft as it means that it will be too much of a pain to bother with from November to March.

Well worth doing then with that weight saving, plan on fitting a cage at some point so guess carpets etc will have to go.
once the standard seat goes for a bucket itl be 90 odd kilo's lighter but keeping the carpet in the drivers area as well as 1 speaker in the passenger footwell for normality when driving to the the track, it stays in place because it magnitise to the door then unclip the m/f connector when at the track
