How not to drive at a TD
Discussion
What was that bit in the breifing ? If a car that wasnt there before is suddenly behind you (after going thru the last 2 corners 20mph faster
) then pull the F over

Why the angst? If it's that bad, pop into the pits and ask the organisers to sort him out. And then you'll be way behind and have the fun of catching. It's always amusing to see how upset people get!

Couldn't agree more.. that driver waving his hands .... why get so stressed? Bert
Well yes and no, it is frustrating I must admit, I had a similar problem at Castle combe last weakend with a Clio and a scooby, through the corners I was miles faster and had to keep backing off ehich was frustrating and less fun and then to be left 20ft behind
on the straights.
If someone struggles to get passed on the straights but are quicker through the twisties I just back off abit down the straight.
It's not hard.
People just love abit of "Ego preservation"
Ovcourse everyone will have mixed opinions on this video...... But that is mine.

GT2 should definitely have backed off on the straight to let the gt3 past - but I am not sure there is any need to crawl all over his arse in the corners and wave arms. If the guy in front won't get the hint just drop back - it's in everybodys interest. Track days are safe fun on the whole but there are always a few sensitive egos and "racers" who fancy there's a bit more too it than that. More's the pity.
The following car is the worst. IMHO.
OK, Driver in front not using his mirrors, and then sprinted on the straights - TRUE. But obviuosly a Rookie.
Bloke following...
Too hot out of the pits. Cold tyres/transmission/brakes etc.
Too close straight out of the pit lane. Rookies wont look until lakeside at best. they're too busy.
After seeing his braking points at Island (clearly a rookie) he's STILL all over him in the corners.
Getting very irate where there's plenty of room. No other cars seen.
Only plus point for me for driver following is that he didn't throw it up the inside on braking at Shell or Lodge.
You BOTH need to listen in the breifing.
Driver 2 more so as obviously more experienced.
Chill out, back off, find some space and enjoy your day

obviously blue flag not explained in the briefing, or just being ignored... not used on all trackdays but can be plainly seen on this one. Guy in front too macho to let the car behind past. Bet he picked up a great big trophy and an F1 test drive at the end of the day :-)
Just about to post that.About 1 minute in he gets blue flagged. Obviously not paying attention in the briefing or to the marshalls.
Both as bad as one another, really.
I can understand his frustration, but no need to get worked up about it.
I can't understand the GT2, he easily saw the quicker car in his mirrors, its impossible not too and if your not aware of your surroundings then you shouldn't be on track.
I have been stuck behind drivers of superior cars many times and just can't understand their logic. If I'm being caught I usually see the closing car at least 3 corners before they reach me, just lifting off the gas and letting people through is easy and safe. I understand the GT3's frustration just droping back doesn't work as in half a lap you've caught them again and if reporting people I tend to just wait till my session is over.

I think this is the same guy, he is pretty handy on track if that's a standard RS, above following another porker with some very interesting lines, some dodgy overtakes by both cars for a trackday, shame he lets himself down probably a racer and we all know what they are like on trackdays, you wouldn't get that on a TVR only day would you

Danny is on the vid in the Sag running the new race engine in, must have been hard keeping it under 4k all day.
