Hi All.

Booked on for silverstone on the 24th.

The booking is for the international track but I'm buggered if I can find a map of that layout anywhere.

This is what I have to go on;

http://www.trackdays.co.uk/tracks/silverstone.htm

Anyone help?

I think that the International circuit was previously known as the Southern circuit, this one:

The international use to be an extended version of the National, so instead of turning right down the National straight at Becketts, you used to go a little further and turn at a corner called Ireland, and down the international straight which brought you down to Abbey, then turn right to go to Bridge and back to the complex etc etc...

Now, I think it's part of the southern circuit, so you go past the brand new pits and then turn right at the new Abbey onto the new GP section, then right at the tight bend and when you come to the next hair pin, instead of turning back on yourself, you go kind of straight across, which brings you out at Chapel and then down the Hangar straight etc...

I think this enables the circuit to run 2 track days at once, as the National circuit is not affected by this.

HTH.

I'll see you there, am going on this with a few friends- i'll be in my Clio and they're in an M5 and an M3. Say hi if you see us!

I've been looking for maps of the circuit too, excited about the layout- I had assumed it was a misprint and meant to be the 'national' circuit... good news!!

Cool,

M5 on track? I foresee much wallet damage! Was never brave/rich enough to track mine, Wish i would have been though.

I'll be sharing my little beast with a couple of mates:

See you there smile

Does anybody have some photos to share of their day at Silverstone? Or any in-car footage?
I was one of the slowest, a newbie in an old Mk1 MX5, but had great fun nevertheless. Some fantastic cars out on track, and on the whole I thought the etiquette of drivers was superb. Being one of the slowest I was worried that it would be intimidating with much faster cars hassling to get past on every bend, but not so.
Sad to see an incident towards the end resulting in a badly smashed BMW being towed off on the back of a lorry and the driver taken away in an ambulance - I hope he is ok & the ambulance was just precautionary.
Couple of piccies from the car park...

Managed to get a few laps as passenger in one of the racing MX5s....

Can't wait until the next one.

If you PM me I'll send you some footage including the white M3 that lost it right in front of me - I was in the black & multi logo'd E36.

PM'd, cheers Simon.
Hope the guy in the white BMW was ok, think he had buckets & harnesses so hopefully limited to a bit of a neck ache.
