Did my first track day!

First time I've ever done one - went to Goodwood with the Evo; great fun and very helpful instructors. Car finished in the same shape it started and I was getting smoother. Unlike the chap who wrote off his new M3 by slamming backwards into the tyre wall!
Definitely going back for more - and want to start racing

Congrats, and glad you didnt stack the car!

The adrenalin rush isnt something that fades, you always feel the same when doing track days.

racing is another thing altogether, i budgeted around £10-15k per season for racing, its just not for the average Joe and unfortunately isnt something i can afford to get involved with.

obviously, with all things the series you choose can change the prices but my budget was only for a local castle combe saloons series.

Nice one, glad you had fun. I have def got the bug since doing my first track day in 2009.

Just drive within your limits and you will be fine.

I would recommend doing a car control course; I have done a few and learnt so much. I did 2 prior to my first track day.

My E36 is nearly ready to go. Just the shocks/springs left to do. As it's only £400 quids worth (before the bits that have been added), I'm not too worried about it ending shiney side up. I don't think I'd be brave enough to take a new M3 on a track.

Can't wait.

Yes, seeing the M3 minus its rear axle on my first session was a bit sobering..... then a Tesla spun off too!
I definitely want some one to one instruction and I'd like to learn what do to if it all goes wrong....

Know exactly what you mean OP. Did my first one last year after several years of 'shall I, shan't I?' and can't get enough of them now. Deffo go for the instruction, it will smooth the learning curve a little.

I did, once, at Croft. Never again. Now I track the IndyR and the M is road only. I just couldnt enjoy myself, too worried about binning it (she was 5 months old at the time).

It shouldn't matter too much with the M3s. They depreciate almost as fast as if you crashed into the tyre wall

Mine's just gone 3 and I havent lost a penny on it. :-)
