Would you take this job?

Current position:

4 on 4 off shift work - 12 hour days, no chance to finish early or work any flexi hours etc. Have to work bankholidays - xmas eve / boxing day etc if shifts fall that way.
Not a particularly enjoyable job but its OK.
Team made up of 5 people who are all OK. Boss is inept.
Do not enjoy the company culture - very blame orientated.
average salary - overtime available at standard rate.
25 mile commute each way.
National company.
Very little chance of career progression. (It appears)
Been with comapny 12 months.

New role being offered:

Similar but not identitcal job role - slightly more varied but a much smaller team. Would be 2nd person in a two person team.
Mon - Fri - flexitime available - 12 hours less than role above per week.
Job may be OK - was a speculative application.
Basic salary same as above - no overtime available but company bonus that is paid woudl cover shortfall in overtime - bonus has been paid at 100% 19 out of last 20 times. Sometimes is paid at over 100%
5 mile max commute each day. Could do by push bike.
Part of a large international group - but UK branch is reasonbly small.
Unknow chance of career progression.

Out of the 2, I'd take the new one.
What you really want is a long term goal to work towards. Makes getting up each day much nicer!

depends on your priorities... if you want a little more life back, take the new one. less commute, mon-fri, all things that will improve your "social" life.

If new job >= old job in terms of salary, then move to new job imo. Normal hours beats continental shifts.

Switching from a 50 mile round trip to cycling will make quite a difference to your disposable income I'd have thought, so I'd say the new one.
