Wanted Commissioning Engineer

Based in S Cambs, the Commissioning Team is a pool of staff with a blend of mechanical, electrical and test skills, operating as the interface between Engineering, Software and Design groups and its customers. The nature of the work is varied, ranging from repeat builds, product support, product development and research. It is the role of the Commissioning Team to provide technical support for all of these functions as required, whether during the build stage on our premises or on a customer’s site.
It is the Commissioning Team who:
• Set-up, configure and test our existing products and systems
• Work with Engineering to develop new and existing products
• Present finished products to our customers
• Install, commission, test and subsequently maintain the products and systems on-site
• Feed back design and maintenance issues to the Engineering group
• Run system demonstrations for marketing purposes
• Present technical and user training.
• Work with specialist technical skills or overflow work.
A commissioning engineer must be a self-starter and able to work on their own, although they may also be required to supervise the work of others, either fellow commissioning engineers, sub-contractors or members of the build team. A commissioning engineer will also be tasked with training others in the testing, maintaining or operating of our products. This training will be aimed at either TAP employees or customers. It is also our strategy to sub-contract as much pure repeat build work as possible, leaving the prototype development, product support, product development and research projects to be dealt with in-house.
This is an opening for a team player who is multi-skilled (mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and electronic abilities), PC literate and who is comfortable dealing with all levels of people within our customers’ organisation. An analytical approach to testing and fault finding is essential. The position will involve international travel (sometimes at short notice) and periods of up to three weeks away from home may be required
